Braves injury update: Michael Harris II to be activated on Wednesday

Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker told reporters prior to tonight’s game against the San Fransisco Giants that injured center fielder Michael Harris II will be activated from the 60-day IL on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, the first day he is eligible to return to the active roster. He is currently on a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett.

Harris II has been out with an injured hamstring since mid-June. Place on the 15-day IL on June 15, Harris II was shifted to the 60-day IL on July 24. Through today, he had appeared in six games for the Stripers with 10 hits in 23 at bats, including a home run.

The Braves outfield defense and offense should get a boost from the returning 2022 NL Rookie of the Year. Although his offensive performance was down in his first 67 games with Atlanta, he is coming off of back-to-back seasons with an OPS of .808 or better, 20 stolen bases and 19 and 18 home runs, respectively.

Defensively, his above average defensive will help provide additional support with the Braves playing Jorge Soler in right field.
