While there have been plenty of NFL head coaching changes this offseason, there have also been changes made at the coordinator level that impact dynasty football. Changes to teams’ offensive mindsets can absolutely alter projections for players on a case-by-case basis, and this piece will dive into how some of those players will be affected.

Mike McDaniel
Los Angeles Chargers, Offensive Coordinator
Impact of New Scheme
The hottest name on the free-agent coaching market this offseason was Mike McDaniel, who was never able to fully unlock the Miami Dolphins offense. His usage of De’Von Achane is hopefully a sign of things to come for Omarion Hampton, which would absolutely elevate him into one of the top tiers of dynasty running backs.
His ability to utilize Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston in the passing game will help Justin Herbert reach a new level, as it is about time we stopped talking about his potential and saw him sniff his ceiling. While McConkey has been earning most of the headlines this offseason, Johnston’s ceiling increases with the addition of McDaniel, as the Miami offense functioned smoothly when both Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill were on the field.
McConkey is the top guy who will likely be used in the Waddle role, running middle-of-the-field (MOF) routes and becoming Herbert’s top target. His underneath route tree will likely be heavily utilized in 2026, so don’t be surprised if his target total increases but his average depth of target (aDOT) decreases.
Johnston will look to fill the vertical role in McDaniel’s wide receiver group, which could result in a ton of “boom” games. With a (hopefully) healthy offensive line spearheaded by Joe Alt and Rashawn Slater, Herbert should be able to hit Johnston on longer routes down the field, helping increase his TD potential.

Drew Petzing
Detroit Lions, Offensive Coordinator
Impact of New Scheme
While not a sexy pick, Drew Petzing becoming the new offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions has a few layers to its impact on the skill players. While Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown will still factor into the top roles at their respective positions, the roles of Jameson Williams and Sam LaPorta will be important as well.
His hyper-usage of Trey McBride last season paints a very rosy picture for LaPorta, even with his back concerns. After the way Petzing funneled most of the offense through the tight-end position in Arizona, LaPorta is primed as a bounce-back candidate for 2026.
The concerns I have for this offense are mostly surrounding Williams’ role, as he looks to be the odd man out here. Needing to fight with LaPorta for the third target in the offense, Williams’ role running deep crosses and vertical routes might not be in the cards as much.

Eric Bieniemy
Kansas City Chiefs, Offensive Coordinator
Impact of New Scheme
A familiar face has returned to Kansas City, as the Chiefs welcomed Eric Bieniemy back into the fold as their offensive coordinator. While Andy Reid will likely continue to call plays, Bieniemy, being a familiar coach on the staff, will make the continued implementation of Reid’s offense easy.
Bieniemy is clearly a better fit than Matt Nagy, who is now running the offense for the New York Giants, and it would not be surprising to see the Chiefs’ offense look smoother this year. Bringing Bieniemy back into the fold impacts the offense as a whole, but it seems like pairing Bieniemy with offseason addition Kenneth Walker III can help unlock another facet of the offense.
Walker was never given an RB1 workload in Seattle, as Zach Charbonnet was always used just enough to be annoying. But in Kansas City, the backups behind Walker are nothing more than depth-chart pieces and change-of-pace options, so it looks like Walker is full steam ahead into a workhorse role.
With Patrick Mahomes likely not 100 percent for Week 1, don’t be surprised if KWIII is tasked with leading the offense to open the year, something that Bieniemy—who was Chicago’s running back coach last year—will have a major hand in.

Sean Mannion
Philadelphia Eagles, Offensive Coordinator
Impact of New Scheme
First-time offensive coordinator Sean Mannion was clearly not the top choice for the Philadelphia Eagles in their offseason search, but the former Green Bay quarterback coach will be tasked with revamping a struggling offense. With A.J. Brown now out of the fold, the WR room consists of DeVonta Smith, rookie Makai Lemon, and former Packer Dontayvion Wicks.
Mannion will be tasked with calling plays for Philadelphia, as he will likely bring a blend of the Green Bay offense with him, mixed with a few West Coast elements (like pre-snap motion). While it remains to be seen how he will marry the run and pass, it feels like the offense is heading in the right direction for Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley.
Incorporating more under-center plays will not only make play-action passes more effective but also open up the run game even more. The bread and butter of the Eagles offense relies on the running game, and getting Barkley back to form will help make it more two-dimensional.

Zac Robinson
Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Offensive Coordinator
Impact of New Scheme
In the same vein as the Lions adding Petzing, the Buccaneers scooping up Zac Robinson as their new offensive coordinator doesn’t move the needle all that much. A former NFL journeyman quarterback and longtime coach, Robinson is a Sean McVay disciple, meaning much of his offensive scheme is tied to the run-pass combination.
Bijan Robinson was a big-time beneficiary of Zac Robinson’s scheme in Atlanta, as was Drake London, even though quarterback play was a struggle all year in 2025. Now with the Buccaneers, Zac Robinson will be able to use the best player in Tampa Bay’s offense as a valuable chess piece.
Emeka Egbuka is in line to ascend into Baker Mayfield’s top target this year as Mike Evans is now with the 49ers, and Chris Godwin is trying to put together a fully healthy campaign. If Egbuka is moved around the formation and funneled the type of target share that London was, then Egbuka is in line to be a league winner in 2026.

David Blough
Washington Commanders, Offensive Coordinator
Impact of New Scheme
The 2025 season is one the Washington Commanders want to forget, as age and injuries came back to bite this team in a disappointing year. Elevating David Blough from quarterback coach to offensive coordinator will change the identity of Washington’s offense, hopefully tailoring it more to the skill set of the current offensive personnel.
Having just signed Stefon Diggs, this offense now has two starting receivers, even if both players are on the older side of things. Rounding out this group will help Jayden Daniels get back to his pre-injury self, but elements of the new scheme, including a greater focus on play action and setting Daniels up more under center, will do a lot for the third-year quarterback as well.
The Washington offense needs to become more well-rounded moving forward, and it needs to be less predictable. If Jacorey Croskey-Merritt or Rachaad White can carve out roles in the run game and factor into the offense, Daniels can remain dangerous, but won’t have to play such a factor in the run game (hopefully keeping him healthy).
