🧱 Best Defensive Line Waiver Pickups | Week 8 IDP

Player Team FAAB % Notes
K’Lavon Chaisson Patriots 1–5% DL5 in Week 7. Only rostered in 31% of leagues.
Jake Martin Commanders 1–5% 10 tackles, 1 sack, and a safety across last three games.

K’Lavon Chaisson | New England Patriots | 1–5% FAAB

The former LSU EDGE rusher has found a home in his first year with the New England Patriots. K’Lavon Chaisson is playing ~71% of the defensive snaps for the Patriots this season, and he’s just one half sack away from recording five sacks in back-to-back seasons. Chaisson continues to benefit from New England’s offense developing and allowing the team to play with the lead, which has created more pass-rushing opportunities.

IDP managers can benefit from this waiver pickup not just for Week 8, but also long-term. The Patriots have one of the weakest schedules for the remainder of the season, including multiple teams in their own division who rank in the bottom half of the league in sacks allowed. Chaisson was highlighted in our Week 2 article; however, his availability in leagues is a gift for fantasy managers this late in the season. This is a strategic move that can pay off in the weeks to come.

Jake Martin | Washington Commanders | 1–5% FAAB

Six NFL teams hit the bye this week, and trying to field a contending team will be a true challenge. Jake Martin is a veteran pass rusher for the Washington Commanders who is coming off double-digit points in two of his last three games. He’s averaging ~8 fantasy points per game, with 10 tackles, a sack, and a safety over his last three outings. Fantasy managers searching for bye-week fill-ins could find worse options at DL if they wait until kickoff to address the need.

💪 Linebacker Adds (LB) | Week 8 IDP Waiver Wire

Player Team FAAB % Notes
JD Bertrand Falcons 5–10% LB2 role with Divine Deablo out; 15 FP in Week 7.
Shaun Dolac Rams 1–5% Long-term dynasty stash; productive in lone start (16 FP).

JD Bertrand | Atlanta Falcons | 5–10% FAAB

What a difference a week makes. The six teams on bye in Week 8 will sideline 4 of the top 12 overall linebackers. JD Bertrand steps into a decent spot, taking over as the LB2 in Atlanta after an injury to starting LB Divine Deablo. The former Notre Dame LB collected 15 fantasy points in Week 7 and should continue to have opportunities to produce based on high-volume tackling.

Shaun Dolac | Los Angeles Rams | 1–5% FAAB

IDP managers have been in on undrafted linebacker Shaun Dolac for most of the season. He showed up big in his lone start in Week 6 with a 16-point performance. The return of Omar Speights has Dolac back to a special teams role for now, but the Rams could turn back to the undrafted rookie if his stellar play continues. This is a savvy move for non-contending dynasty teams who can afford to wait. The approaching bye reduces acquisition competition from contenders.

🛡️ Defensive Back Adds (DB) | Week 8 IDP Waiver Wire

Player Team FAAB % Notes
Ashtyn Davis Dolphins 1–5% 83% snaps in 4 straight; DB31 over that span; strong streamer.
Kool-Aid McKinstry Saints 3–8% ~5 tackles per game; DB3 overall in Week 5 (2 INT).

Ashtyn Davis | Miami Dolphins | 1–5% FAAB

The Miami Dolphins are one of the NFL’s worst teams this season, but Ashtyn Davis is earning the starting role opposite Minkah Fitzpatrick and delivering. Davis has played an 83% defensive snap share in four straight games and ranks as DB31 over that span. He should be a top-tier streamer for Week 8.

Kool-Aid McKinstry | New Orleans Saints | 3–8% FAAB

Kool-Aid McKinstry has averaged ~5 tackles per game over the past month and was DB3 overall in Week 5 thanks to a two-interception performance. As long as this Saints usage holds, he’s viable in DB-required formats.

❌ Drop Candidates | Week 8 IDP Waiver Wire

Player Reason to Drop
A.J. Epenesa Heavy DL rotation in Buffalo; 11 players ≥17% snaps; volatile usage.
K.J. Britt Irrelevant unless injuries hit Tyrel Dodson or Jordyn Brooks.
Xavier Woods ~10 FPPG; replaceable in streamable DB position.

Drop Candidates Analysis | Week 8 IDP Waiver Wire

A.J. Epenesa – In a heavy rotation for Buffalo. 11 different players have played at least 17% of the defensive snaps at DL this season.

K.J. Britt – Provided double-digit points in the absence of Tyrel Dodson. He’s irrelevant unless an injury happens to Jordyn Brooks or Tyrel Dodson.

Xavier Woods – Averaging ~10 FPPG. At a position as easy to stream as DB, he’s more roster clogger than starter.

🔁 Top Trade Targets | Week 8 IDP Waiver Wire

Player Notes
Mike Green Baltimore’s best pure pass rusher; buy for non-contenders.
Shaq Thompson Back-to-back 20-point games; sell-high window for rebuilders.
Xavier McKinney Three-safety usage caps ceiling; leverage name value in trades.

Top Week 8 IDP Trade Targets | DL, LB, DB Must-Adds

Mike Green – The Baltimore defense is likely to figure it out; he’s their best pure pass rusher. Great buy for non-contenders.

Shaq Thompson – Arguably the Bills’ best LB this season. If you’re not competing, flip the veteran after consecutive spike weeks.

Xavier McKinney – Three-safety usage in Green Bay. He remains the most notable name in that rotation; consider leveraging for roster depth.
