Week 7 IDP Start/Sit Rankings

Jessie Bates Atlanta Falcons Safety tackles in the Week 7 IDP Start/Sit Fantasy Football 2025 DL LB DB

Welcome back, IDP Nerds! We are nearly at the halfway point of the fantasy football season. Every game becomes more critical, and a bad break, such as multiple teams on the bye or a big-time injury, can be the difference between making or missing the playoffs. IDP managers must adapt quickly and get the most out of their lineups weekly. In this Week 7 IDP Start/Sit Fantasy Football column, we’ll spotlight the defenders trending up, the players to fade based on matchups, and, as always, those hidden gems to prepare you for the rest of the season.

Catch up with the Week 7 IDP Waiver Wire and check our Week 7 Player Rankings Tiers Start/Sit for final lineup decisions.

Weekly Accuracy Recap | Week 7 IDP Start Sit

Week Hit Rate Start Rate % Sit Rate % Stream Rate % Top Performer
Week 1 62.5% 66.6% 33.3% 100% Jarvis Brownlee (CB1)
Week 2 37.5% 66.6% 33.3% 0% Tykee Smith (DB11)
Week 3 38.4% 33.3% 66.6% 25% Cooper DeJean (DB17)
Week 4 61.5% 83.3% 66.6% 25% Cole Bishop (DB17)
Week 5 81.8% 80% 66.6% 75% Marcus Jones (DB8)
Week 6 63.3% 60% 50% 25% Yaya Diaby (DL8)

Not the outcome we had hoped for after a steady improvement over the past two weeks. Again, we were impacted by the injuries, and both Terrel Bernard and Devin Lloyd could not finish the game in Week 6. The start recommendations did the best last week, and I’m glad they came through for us. We still have some work to do with our premium position streaming options, finishing at 25% in three of the last four weeks. Mekhi Blackmon was a top streaming option with a DB13 finish last week. Yaya Diaby delivered as our top performer with a big two-sack performance.

Defensive Line | Start/Sit Player Analysis Week 7

Montez Sweat | DL | Chicago Bears

The New Orleans Saints are a favorable matchup for defensive linemen this season. They have allowed the fifth-most tackles per game (18). This week is a great time to fire up Montez Sweat in your lineups. In a season where the top 5 fantasy scorers in IDP fantasy football all play the DL position, you must be getting the most out of your lineups. The veteran EDGE rusher is the DL61 this season, averaging 12.78 fantasy points per game. His matchup against the Saints, who allow just 1.8 sacks per game but 2.5 on the road, presents a promising opportunity for Sweat to shine.

Montez Sweat has collected at least two solo tackles in every game this season. His 17 pressures rank 34th amongst EDGE defenders this season (PFF). The Saints allow just 1.8 sacks per game; however, that number goes up to 2.5 on the road. The Chicago defense will be looking to attack Spencer Rattler, and we can bank on Montez Sweat collecting his second sack of the season.

Laiatu Latu | DL | Indianapolis Colts

IDP managers have seen shades of a breakout from Laiatu Latu over his first two seasons. It has yet to be as consistent as we would like. However, his potential is undeniable, and I love his chances to put together a fourth consecutive double-digit fantasy performance in Week 7. Latu and the Indianapolis defense head to Los Angeles to face a Chargers offense struggling to stay healthy. The Chargers allow a league-leading 5 sacks per game at home this season. The young Colts defender has been making a presence with his impact plays; one sack and two interceptions have played a massive part in his three-game streak of 10 fantasy points or more. I am confident he can keep it going in Week 7 and reward those dynasty managers who desperately need him to creep into the DL3 conversation.

Linebacker | Week 7 Start/Sit Rankings

SirVocea Dennis | LB | Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been must-see TV, playing close games every week. In Week 7, they face their most formidable challenge of the season with the high-powered Detroit Lions offense. They will need to rely on their young defense and breakout LB SirVocea Dennis as the offense deals with significant injuries to their skill position players.

The former Pittsburgh Panthers LB has been very consistent this season, with at least 7 tackles in 66.6% of his games. He’s averaging 14.9 FPPG and doing most of his damage as a high-volume tackler. The Detroit Lions are the only team this season to allow 120 tackles to the LB position. SirVocea Dennis offers a safe enough tackle floor to think he can produce double-digit tackles in Week 7.

Trevin Wallace | LB | Carolina Panthers

IDP managers should be encouraged by what they’ve seen from Trevin Wallace over the past month. The Carolina Panthers linebacker has played 100% of the defensive snaps during the team’s two-game win streak and continues to trend upward. Wallace currently sits as the LB62 on the season but has posted 11 or more fantasy points in four of six games. His growing role has come at the expense of Christian Rozeboom, whose snaps have steadily declined. With a favorable Week 7 matchup against the New York Jets, a team that’s already allowed linebacker tackle totals of 11, 15, and 18 this year, Wallace has a great chance to deliver again for IDP managers.

Defensive Backs | Start/Sit Week 7 Fantasy Football

Jessie Bates | DB | Atlanta Falcons

If Week 7 doesn’t mark the start of a Jessie Bates bounce-back, it might be time for IDP managers to start worrying. The Falcons’ safety has been a top-10 defensive back in the past two seasons, but in 2025, he sits at DB107, averaging just 10 fantasy points per game. While he’s reached double digits in four of five contests, he’s yet to top 13 points in a single week—a far cry from last season, when he posted five games over 20 points.

Jessie Bates draws a favorable matchup against the 49ers, who have allowed 18 tackles to safeties over the past three weeks. We’re close to pressing the panic button, but for now, the veteran still deserves our trust and will hopefully reward it with a strong performance this week.

Andrew Wingard | DB | Jacksonville Jaguars

I highlighted Andrew Wingard as a player in the Week 5 Waiver Wire article. The Jacksonville Jaguars’ DB has been solid this season. He’s not going to post a massive performance and swing a matchup in your favor, but if you need steady production, he’s your guy. Wingard has posted 10 fantasy points in every game. The Los Angeles Rams have allowed the 5th most tackles per game (88) to defensive backs this season. Steady contributors like Wingard are the unsung heroes of IDP leagues who help you rack up wins and get your team into the playoffs each season.

Top IDPs to Stream in Week 7 | Start/Sit Fantasy Football Advice

Player Pos Team Opponent Stream
Milton Williams DT Patriots Titans
Moro Ojomo DT Eagles Vikings
Rasul Douglas CB Dolphins Browns
Nahshon Wright CB Bears Saints
Milton Williams | DT | New England Patriots

The Tennessee Titans remain one of the best teams to target when streaming defensive linemen. After allowing six sacks last week, this offense remains a matchup goldmine for opposing pass rushers. Milton Williams profiles as a strong streaming option in Week 7, with three sacks on the season—the sixth-most among interior defenders and 17 total pressures, ranking 13th according to PFF.

Moro Ojomo | DT | Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles defense needs a get-right game, and Week 7 could be just that. The Minnesota Vikings’ offensive line has allowed the most sacks per game this season (4.2), setting up a prime opportunity for their pass rush to rebound. Moro Ojomo stands out as a strong streaming option this week. He’s posted double-digit fantasy points in half of his games and ranks fifth among interior defenders with 21 pressures on the season.

Rasul Douglas | CB | Miami Dolphins

Let’s return to one of this week’s Waiver Wire standouts and roll with him again. Rasul Douglas has quietly been one of the most consistent defensive backs in fantasy football, posting at least 13 fantasy points in four straight games and finishing as the DB8 last week. His reliable tackle floor makes him a safe and steady streaming option at the cornerback position.

Nahshon Wright | CB | Chicago Bears

The New Orleans Saints are the season’s third most favorable matchup for cornerbacks. Chicago Bears’ DB Nahshon Wright has already posted a career high in tackles this season. He has played 92% of the snaps for the Bears this season and continues to provide fantasy managers with solid production.

Players to Sit | Week 7 Fantasy Football

Player Pos Team Opponent
James Houston DL Cowboys Commanders
Dru Tranquill LB Chiefs Raiders
Jaquan Brisker DB Bears Saints
James Houston | DL | Dallas Cowboys

The heavy rotation at the DL position for the Dallas Cowboys continues to be frustrating for fantasy managers. Veteran pass rusher James Houston still leads the team in sacks (3.5) despite playing a 24% defensive snap share this season. Houston played just 21.2% of the defensive snaps in Week 6. Houston’s efficiency has been borderline unbelievable, but the Cowboys’ desire to rotate five different players kills his reliability. Fade him this week.

Dru Tranquill | LB | Kansas City Chiefs

The IDP landscape shifts fast and can cost you valuable wins if you’re not paying attention. Dru Tranquill is the perfect example. The Kansas City Chiefs linebacker opened the 2025 season on fire, posting double-digit fantasy points in three of his first four games. But since Week 5, things have cooled off quickly, and Tranquill has back-to-back single-digit performances as Leo Chenal’s role continues to expand.

Jaquan Brisker | DB | Chicago Bears

I hate making this recommendation because, like most IDP managers, I was rooting hard for the Jaquan Brisker bounce-back this season. Unfortunately, it just hasn’t happened. Brisker has been wildly inconsistent and currently ranks as the DB4 on his team through six games. Kevin Byard remains the top safety option in Chicago, but Brisker’s lack of tackle volume is tanking his value. After posting back-to-back 100-tackle seasons, he’s sitting at just 24 tackles in 2025. It’s time to look elsewhere in Week 7.

Hidden IDP Gems | Week 7 Fantasy Football Start/Sit

  • Byron Young’s historic season continues — 29.93 FPPG leads all players in 2025.
  • 7 different IDPs scored 30 fantasy points in Week 6, the most of any week this season.
  • Respect to one of the greats—Fred Warner is out for the season but had 51 tackles in six games.
  • The rookies are making noise: Carson Schwesinger, Demetrius Knight, and Teddye Buchanan all rank top-36 among linebackers.
  • The Rams are the only team with four IDPs averaging 18+ FPPG (Byron Young, Jared Verse, Kam Curl, and Nate Landman).
  • The Devin White LB1 campaign continues—LB5 on the season, led all LBs with 33.8 fantasy points in Week 6.
