Washington Commanders release potential franchise-altering statement

The Washington Commanders released a statement that could indicate a potential sale of the team coming down the line.

Throughout the offseason, there have been cries in the nation’s capital for Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder to sell the team.

Forget the first line, it’s been going on for years, and now, there is a chance that might actually happen. On Wednesday, a report dropped that Snyder and his wife, Tanya, have hired Bank of America Securities to explore the sale of their franchise.

This doesn’t necessarily guarantee that Snyder will sell the team, but this move points in that direction.

The Washington Commanders have taken a step in the direction of being sold.

The tenure of Daniel Snyder has been tumultuous for the Washington franchise. From the name change from the Redskins to the ‘Football Team’ and now the Commanders, to the sexual assault allegations, to workplace harassment, the nation’s capital has been the capital of misery in the National Football League. And that doesn’t even count all the disastrous on-field results.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of this unfolds and whether or not Daniel Snyder winds up selling the Washington Commanders or just uses this maneuver as a prelude to something else. For now, fans in the nation’s capital have hope that something they’ve clamored about for a long time could finally be coming to fruition.
