The never ending Wander Fraco saga will continue at least through the beginning of April. Juan Arturo Recio is reporting that the trial has been delayed until March 30th.
Franco’s witnesses were not present, so his lawyer requested the postponement.
Wander Franco hasn’t played for the Tampa Bay Rays since August 2023 when the allegations of his illegal activity went viral on social media leading to the Rays placing him on paid administrative leave. Franco was officially arrested in July 2024 and then placed on the restricted list by the Rays.
In June 2025, Franco was found guilty of sexual abuse and sentenced to a suspended prison sentence and probation. However, both his defense and the prosecutors wished for a retrial has neither side was happy with the outcome. The prosecution was hoping for a much stiffer punishment against Franco while his defense was looking for absolute vindication.
In December 2025, the Dominican Republic Court of Appeals decided to void the trial that was held in June and consequently Wander Franco’s conviction.
