Top 100 Starting Pitchers – For Whom The ‘On The Clock’ Bell Tolls

Happy Monday, Razzball faithful!

It’s the second week of March, and you know what that means!

IT’S DRAFT SEASON!

My weekend of fun with the mini Marmos was a good one, but it was also filled with our ongoing slow-drafts for the TGFBI league, the RazzSlam league, and the RCL #11 draft from last night!

I can honestly say, there isn’t a more confusing time than trying to navigate three drafts simultaneously, but especially when the two slow draft timers converge and you’re “On The Clock” in multiple leagues. It’s a good exercise in organization and sharpening one’s focus.

So, today, with data bubbling all over the place as I boil multiple metaphorical pots on the stove, I figured it would be a good time to share both an updated Top 100 Starting Pitchers list, complete with current ADP changes, but also a bit of a write-up of my TGFBI league’s starting pitchers drafted (so far) with a bit of a flashlight focus on how that draft unfolded, too.

It should give you an up-to-date look at how 15 industry writers are assessing the pitcher pool and where some felt the need to reach on a player, or to completely ditch ADP altogether (spoiler: it happens before some people might think it will).

Before we get to the goods, though, as always, it’s a bit of business first. The Razzball subscriptions are well worth the price of admission. This should be your go-to reference for the entire season. That resource that the other “experts” from other sites use as often as they look at Statcast or Fangraphs data? This is it.

And, as I mentioned above, the RCL leagues are OPEN! Click on the link to the RCL article from Grey to sign up for one of our 2026 Razzball Commenter Leagues!

I’ll put a few quick hit notes if there are any BIG jumps or dumps in our ADP after the list here today, too. As an additional point, I changed the NFBC search to reflect the most recent drafts, so the NFBC numbers are from February 8th to March 8th.

I updated Grey’s rankings and our Razzball R$ numbers here, too. They’re mostly unchanged, but both have been affected by injuries and signings since my initial list was posted a few weeks ago.

Quick Hits from the Top 100

  • Most of Grey’s changes weren’t earth-shattering. The main ones were Hunter Greene dropping to 39 (from 8), and Blake Snell dropping to 36 (from 19). Both were due to injury concerns.
  • Grey removed Spencer Schwellenbach, Shane Bieber, and Hurston Waldrep from his rankings.
  • NFBC movement: Ryan Weathers & Kodai Senga both up 9 spots; Connolly Early is down 7 spots; Quinn Priester is down 11.
  • Fantrax movement: Hunter Greene down to SP58 (12 last month); Blake Snell down to SP53 (38 last month); Roki Sasaki down to SP79 (59 last month); Gerrit Cole down to SP91 (71 last month); Shane McClanahan up to SP69 (74 last month).
  • I removed Bryce Miller and his bonespurs and added Reid Detmers to the bottom of the list.
  • The Bieber removal was tough, but the arm soreness means it’s the right move. Accepting a $6 million player option makes more sense now. I’d be surprised if we see him before June 1st.
  • I added Mick Abel to the very bottom of the Top 100 because of his Spring success and his proximity to that spot for a few weeks now.
  • Hunter Greene dropped to my SP32 spot.
  • The Top 100 isn’t easy because it means we miss out on quite a few of those deeper league names to watch. Some of the guys I had a tough time bumping out for other names include: Brady Singer, Yusei Kikuchi, Jameson Taillon, Chad Patrick, Lucas Giolito, Jose Soriano, Luis Gil, Ian Seymour, Brandon Sproat, Max Meyer, Tyler Mahle, …really, the list feels endless.

TGFBI LEAGUE #1073 Starting Pitcher draft results (through Round 20)

Before I get this all organized for your eyeballs, I’ll give you a bit of a setup in case you aren’t familiar with the format.

TGFBI is Justin Mason’s (Sleeper and The Bust) industry league that began in 2018.

I’ll give AI a shot at explaining it better than I could, and likely with fewer words.

Thanks, AI. Not-so-shockingly, you messed up again, though. It’s a one UT and 2-catcher league.

Today, it’ll be a rundown of the first 20 rounds of Starting Pitcher picks in yet another chart from yours truly. I’ll have each player, the round they were drafted in, and the overall draft slot in which they were selected. Just cross-reference this chart with the Top 100 list above if you want specifics of how that jives with their SP rankings in the Top 100 Starting Pitchers list.

AND DON’T WORRY if you’re a Points league fan and a RazzSlam enthusiast!

We’re only through 11 rounds in the Slam, and if anyone has been following along the last few years, you’ll know that the RazzSlam format is known to suppress pitcher values. I’m hoping to have most of that draft finished ahead of next week so I can share my whole list of picks with you then.

Lastly, if you want to follow along, here’s the link to TGFBI League #1073

TGFBI Notes

  • The first overall pick landed in MarmoLand after a different manager got cute with the KDS and opted to order the 2nd pick as their first choice. I can’t see myself ever using Shohei as an SP, but because he’s dual eligible, I figured I’d better put him here as one of our pitching selections. I would’ve rather had Ohtani in RazzSlam because the Best Ball format would automatically make that Pitcher/Hitter decision for me each week.
  • My plan all along was to nail three hitters to start, then take a look at what was there in the 4th round for arms. Hoping that Woo would make it back to me at 60th overall was a pipe dream, but I still managed to snag two SPs to test out my “great WHIP + great strikeout” strategy with Kirby and Cease.
  • It was a tough decision among Bradish, Peralta, Cease, and Ryan for the 5-1 pick. I ended up defaulting to the hometown guy.
  • Taking Jo Adell in Round 9 was partly because I needed a second outfielder, but also because I was fine waiting for Round 10 to take Trey Yesavage as my SP3/4. Round 9 saw its first SP run of the draft, with 7 of the first 10 picks being starters.
  • I wanted to fill my hitting spots quickly, so I took my second catcher in RD 16, then was torn between taking an OF or an SP at the start of RD 17. I took Adolis Garcia at a discount there, but the SP explosion that followed in the next 30 picks was rough. In hindsight, I should’ve just hit another SP there instead of assuming people wouldn’t jump ADP and grab the deep dive names early.
  • TWELVE of the 15 picks in Round 18 were starting pitchers. This wouldn’t have been a big deal if I weren’t the last pick of that round. This was where managers began to abandon ADP. It’s officially “Go Get Your Guy” season.
  • If you’ve read anything from me this year, you likely know I’ve warmed up to the idea of Cody Ponce being a serviceable arm with the potential for “much more”. I’d like to say his obsession with Star Wars had nothing to do with the bonus Marmo-points, but…
  • This draft slowed down to a crawl through wet cement with weighted boots on Sunday afternoon. I made my Beavers pick (Canadian auto-pun included) before starting my 5-hour writing spree, and the draft has yet to make its way back to me. I’ll draft another arm next, but I’ll have to weigh some pros and cons first.
  • My 20th round selection will be the 300th overall. Next up: Connolly Early (likely ticketed for Worcester), Quinn Priester (I like him, but the wrist injury is concerning), Sean Manaea, Grayson Rodriguez, Parker Messick, Zebby Matthews. Any are fine as an SP5 or SP6.

That’s it for this week! Regular readers know the drill. If you have anything to share or comment on, feel free to drop it in the comments here, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can!

Next week, I’ll have more updates to the list, some injury adjustments, and a rundown of the RazzSlam picks for you points leagues folks.

See you next Monday!
