The Braves have 17 games in 17 days after today
So, the Braves get a final respite before having to grind through 17 games in 17 days. While you (and they) pre-emptively recuperate, what baseball are you planning on watching in the meanwhile?
The obvious answer seems to be the Mets-Phillies game, where the hapless New York squad will look to avoid suffering what is effectively a four game “sweep” even though the venue changed midway through the set. That game features Jose Quintana facing off against Taijuan Walker, and seems pretty favorable to the Phillies, all things considered.
A lot of the other games on today’s limited slate are mismatches on paper, so probably the best game for your viewing pleasure is going to be Rays-Red Sox. Boston is starting Cooper Criswell, who was with the Rays as recently as last year, and has been part of their excellent rotation. The Rays are probably really disappointed in their 22-22 start so far, but scheduled starter Zack Littell has been one of their brightly shining stars — he’s been a top 15 hurler by fWAR so far. Also, amusingly, Littell was with the Red Sox last year before the Rays scooped him up, so this is a weird starting pitching matchup where both players are relatively young (both under 30) but facing their former teams.
