In-state recruiting has been a focus for head coach Joey McGuire as he looks to position the Texas Tech Red Raiders as a powerhouse in the Big 12.
Heading into Tuesday, McGuire had secured commitments from 15 state of Texas recruits. That includes the commitment of massive five-star offensive tackle recruit Felix Ojo from Mansfield, Texas. Ojo is considered to be the top player from the state, according to the 247Sports Composite.
McGuire and the Red Raiders can now add a 16th in-state commitment to the bunch and a 19th commitment overall, and it’s a big one.
Chase Campbell is a four-star wideout from Wolfforth, Texas, which is a 10-minute drive down the road from Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock.
Campbell had over 20 offers and was highly considering Baylor as well as Kansas State, but ultimately, the Red Raiders won out for his commitment.
