Ted Hurst was a 0-star prospect coming out of Johnson High School in Georgia. With little recruiting attention, he chose to play at Valdosta State in Division II. Over two seasons, he recorded 60 receptions for 1,027 yards and 10 touchdowns. After finding success in Division II, Hurst entered the transfer portal, where he was rated a 3-star transfer, before ultimately landing at Georgia State.

Hurst would thrive in a lead role for the Panthers, leading the team in receptions, yards, and touchdowns in both seasons there. In 2025, he earned First-Team All-Sun Belt honors and broke the Panthers’ single-season touchdown record with nine. He also landed on Feldman’s Freaks List as one of the most athletic players in college football.

At the NFL Combine, Hurst performed well for himself in both the on-field drills and the athletic testing.

Rookie Profile | Strengths and Weaknesses

Ted Hurst is an intriguing prospect. He has the acceleration to win at all three levels of the field. He shows good footwork as a route runner and strong field positioning. Hurst also displays excellent ball skills, able to track and adjust to the ball in space. There is definitely speed to his game.

On the flip side, while Hurst is lightning in a bottle, the level of competition he faced does bring some concerns about how he will fare against higher-level talent in the NFL. Even against some of the top teams such as Ole Miss, he did not perform particularly well.

On film, Hurst also struggled at times against physical cornerbacks, especially in contested-catch situations. He is not a strong run blocker either, which could limit some of his snaps early in his career. His yards-after-catch ability is also built more on his speed rather than creativity with the ball in his hands. His ceiling comparison is a skinnier George Pickens, while his floor could look closer to Cedric Tillman.

Ted Hurst | All-22 Film Breakdown

Dynasty Nerds offers a ton of amazing resources for the dedicated dynasty manager. Fantastic articles, rankings, and our revolutionary Team building app. But, the most useful resource in my opinion is our amazing collection of All 22nd film. This database allows you to watch condensed games for the prospects you want to evaluate. You get to see every play they are in the game do they try when they don’t get the ball are they just a couple big highlight player or do they consistently succeed?

If you watch Ted Hurst’s film against South Alabama Jaguars football at (0:37), you can see the game speed that he brings to the field. Hurst gets a step on the defender across the middle and quickly turns it into a big play, using his long stride and acceleration to blaze past the secondary for a touchdown. Later in the game, around 6:23, Hurst flashes another part of his skill set—his size and catch radius. Near the end zone, the quarterback simply throws the ball up in tight coverage. Hurst uses his tall frame and body control to high-point the pass and secure the football despite the defender draped over him.

These two plays highlight the traits that make Hurst intriguing as a prospect: vertical speed paired with a large frame, giving him the ability to both separate downfield and win in contested-catch situations.

Draft Capital | Potential Landing Spots

Hurst is likely a Day 3 pick, leaving many wondering where he could land at the NFL level. There are a few teams that could be good fits for him. The Atlanta Falcons are another team that could use more speed at receiver. With no true WR2 established in the offense, Hurst could add another dimension and give the Falcons an additional weapon in the passing game. Hurst’s ability to stretch the field could make him an intriguing fit for any offense that is looking to add more explosive playmakers.
