Tampa Bay Rays 2026 Minor League Roundup: Week 8

This was the 8th week of full minor league play (stats are entering play on Sunday, May 31st).

According to FanGraphs (which factors in age and proximity to the big leagues), 22-year old Caden Bodine has regained his spot as the top hitter spot in the Rays system. The backstop was recently added to Baseball America’s top 100 prospect rankings and is up to 4th in the Rays system. After an unlucky start to his tenure in High-A, Bodine has been red hot lately.

Meanwhile, Michael Forret has taken over the top pitcher spot in the system. Forret has a brief stay on Baseball America’s top 100 earlier this season and was up to 3rd in the Rays system. However, he was later dropped out of the top ten despite his performance remaining consistent. Thus far in 2026, Forret has a 2.01 ERA | 4.34 FIP with a 28.3 K% & 9.9 BB% over 49.1 IP.

Tony Santa Maria’s stay in Triple-A Durham was brief as he has been moved back to High-A.
Brody Hopkins had his best outing of the year and it came in relief. On Friday, Hopkins pitched 5 innings and allowed 0 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 9.
Brayden Taylor might have finally figured out Double-A pitching. Since May 9th, Taylor is hitting .355/.429/.661 with 5 HR over 70 PA.
Connor Hujsak continued his under-the-radar impressive season and is up to 15 HR this season, tied for the second most among all hitters in High-A.
Trevor Harrison has been activated from the 7-day Injured List
The Rays signed RHP Eric Lin to a minor league deal. The 23-year old hurler pitched for the University of Kanas and the University of Alabama during his NCAA career and most recently was with the Chicago Dogs in the indy leagues.
OF Austin Overn has been placed on the Injured List.
LHP Keyshawn Askew has been released. He was originally acquired in a trade for LHP Brooks Raley in December 2022.
