The New York Giants wrapped up their seventh practice of training camp on Friday and it was a hot one with the heat index soaring above 100 degrees. Making matters worse for the players, they were dressed down in full pads.
Head coach Brian Daboll revealed before practice that wide receiver Darius Slayton is “tight” and would have a lesser workload as a result. All other injury statuses remained the same, including center John Michael Schmitz (shoulder), who continues to sit out.
Safety Tyler Nubin (calf) and nose tackle Dexter Lawrence (illness) were again on the field.
Giants players will be off on Saturday before returning for their final practice of the week on Sunday.
Here’s a look at some of the sights and sounds from Friday’s practice.
The best reps come when two guys get chippy and then demand to line up again immediately. Here’s the second such rep between Gunner Olszewski and Tre Herndon in a perimeter blocking drill.

I am a Jake Kubas stan. I think he’s had an awesome camp and should be pushing to make the 53 man roster. “Pass pro isn’t passive” pic.twitter.com/QuF9QNrIwa
