Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the MLB. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Atlanta Braves fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
This week’s SB Nation Reacts question centered on what the Atlanta Braves should do with their fifth starter spot. More than half of votes think that the Braves should give AJ Smith-Shawver a look in the rotation. Voting was closed before Smith-Shawver looked sharp in his season debut Thursday at Wrigley Field. Darius Vines finished second with 26% of the vote and may or may not start Friday’s game in Pittsburgh.
This week’s National reacts question asked when is the first point in the season that fans would give up on a failing team. The All-Star break won with 36% of the vote. Somewhat interestingly, Memorial Day came in third with 19%.
Judging by my Twitter timeline, I’d say May 21 and I am only halfway joking.

Our last National question asked which team is in the worst shape right now. The Chicago White Sox pulled away with 41% of the vote. It’s hard to argue with that result because it is difficult to see a path forward. The Athletics finished second which I guess is predictable given that most people don’t watch the A’s. The Rockies finished third, but they would get my vote. They have proven time and again that they have no idea what they are doing and I could see both the White Sox and Athletics turn things around before the Rockies do.
