Ronald Acuña Jr. leaves game with apparent knee injury (UPDATED)

The Atlanta Braves may have suffered another massive injury. Ronald Acuña Jr. led off Sunday’s game with a double off the wall in right center. With Marcell Ozuna at the plate, Acuña appeared to break for third and changed his mind. He crumpled to the ground after changing directions and was holding his left knee.

Trainers attended to Acuña quickly and appeared to be looking at his left knee. Acuña tore the ACL in his right knee during the 2021 season. He was eventually helped to his feet and walked off the field under his own power with a significant limp.

Here is another view of Acuña going down.

The Braves appear to be on the verge of getting Austin Riley and Sean Murphy back on Monday, but losing Acuña for any significant amount of time would be a huge blow. Jarred Kelenic replaced Acuña in the lineup with Adam Duvall sliding over to right field.

Acuña has appeared in 49 games and is hitting .250/.351/.365 with four homers and a 109 wRC+.

UPDATE – The Braves issued a non-update in regards to Acuña
