Ronald Acuña Jr. going on the 10-day injured list

Ronald Acuña Jr. left Sunday’s win in Pittsburgh in the first inning after injuring his left knee. Acuña was attended to by trainers, but was able to walk off the field under his own power albeit with a significant limp. Acuña spoke with reporters after the game and said that this did not feel like when he tore his ACL in Miami in 2021.

Acuña added that this situation felt more like the injury he had during his rookie season in 2018 when he suffered a sprained knee when he stepped on the first base bag awkwardly at Fenway Park. He was able to return to action in a bout a month after that injury.

Brian Snitker said that the Braves won’t know anything about Acuña until they can get him checked out back in Atlanta. Acuña did say that he was going on the 10-day injured list.

It was good that Acuña was still at the stadium and appeared to be standing when he spoke to reporters. Eddie Perez was the interpreter for the interview and said that they didn’t believe that the situation was as serious as 2021. However, it is worth noting that they won’t know officially until Acuña has an MRI and is examined by team doctors. At any rate, the Braves are going to be without him for at least the time being.

We will have updates from the stadium on Monday as they become available.
