Razzball Commenter Leagues, Week 9, 2024 Fantasy Baseball
It’s a holiday weekend and I’m all thrown off. Holiday Mondays are always weird for me and writing this article. Collecting data while my schedule is all helter-skelter. Am I the only one who gets really thrown off by unstructured days off? I eat at weird times, I feel like I’m wandering through the day, and things just feel off. Some of this could be the malaise from the Acuna news. My favorite team has lost arguably the best pitcher and best position player in the game this season, and I just feel for the kid. Having read Acuna’s Player’s Tribune piece earlier this season, another round of rehab is going to be rough on the guy. Plus, the game is just better with Acuna doing Acuna things. Enough with the sads, let’s move on to the goods, including all the goods from the week that was, week nine in the Razzball Commenter Leagues.
Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land. We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them. The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.
Mike C had a VERY nice week in Perts (and the RCLs, as we’ll see later), finally unseating Kirksey from his perch. Tough week for Kirksey, who also lost Acuna. Mike gained 12.5 points this week thanks to 82.2 IP with a 2.18 ERA and 0.82 WHIP! Sub ONE! In 82.2 IP! Sonny Gray, Chris Sale, Max Fried, Taj Bradley, and capped off with Kyle Bradish. That’s an impressive week. Son had a nice week too, gaining 10.5 points and moving up six places to third. Grey fell the most this week, losing 7.5 points and falling six places to eighth.
Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam. This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.
It’s all the usual suspects in the top seven this week, but the bottom three of the top ten have changed out with Ariel Cohen aggregating back into the top ten and Frank Stampfl joining HAMMERMAN. Third place team, Brent Franey had the most points scored this week (716) and CubbieBearz24 gained the most places in the standings (67) thanks to 682 points. I made a nice leap this week too (64 spots) as I was finally gaining some traction…only to lose Acuna. Fun.

Family Juliens traded Wyatt Langford to FANTASY ICON for Jake Cronenworth
Only one deal this week as Family Juliens divests himself of all his fifth round pick’s shares.
Summary: Just a tremendous week from Mike. I really can’t get over the pitching numbers and then you chip in 17 dingers and it’s no wonder Mike took over first place in the Perts League. Jose Ramirez led the offense, hitting .348 with 4 HR and 11 RBI, plus 7 Runs and a SB. Who were the fools saying J-Ram was going to slow down this year? (Me, I was the fool). Daulton Varsho and Matt Chapman each hit 3 home runs, while Cedric Mullins added 3 steals. I covered the pitching above, but needless to say, it was wonderful and Kenley Jansen added in two saves for good measure. Heck of a week, Mike. Now, slow it down so everyone else can catch up, would ya?
