Happy week four, gang.  Hmm, best not mention gangs or I might be on my way to El Salvador.  Happy week four, good, normal humans.  We’ve made it one whole month!  Are you ready to move on to fantasy football?  Hate your team?  I definitely have a love/hate relationship with all of mine right now.  I look at them, and say, “That’s the team I wanted to draft. I’m still high on these guys,” but then look at the standings, and I’m in 11th place.  A lot of pitching ratios are currently damaging my squads.  That said, I have moved on from several hitters already.  Lane Thomas, I don’t know what Cleveland did to you, but goodbye forever.  Alec Burleson, no homers, get traded to another team already, so you can be the 40 HR hitter you should be.  Zac Veen has not been a team saver yet.  I’m stashing Kurtz in a few leagues, maybe he will help, can he pitch?  Who are you moving on from at this point?  Do tell, we had a million trades this week, so clearly teams are getting the itch.  Let’s look at those trades and all the stats from the week that was, week four in the Razzball Commenter Leagues:

 

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

Mike C climbed back into the top spot this week, leading the league in SBs, Wins, and WHIP.  Mike gained ten points and jumped from third to first.  Grey made a big jump this week as well, picking up 14 points and moving up five spots from eighth to third.  Dad (Son) made the biggest leap, though, picking up 23 points and moving from last to seventh.  Crammy was the biggest loser this week, dropping 19 points, making it 50 points lost since week 1, and falling to last place.  Ouch.

 

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

Zach Meyer and Saucy Mittenz swapped spots at the top this week.  Big swings are still happening all over the place, but I swear, the top ten in Razzslam stays the same from week 1 on.  Chris Thornton had the biggest points gain this week, hitting 755 total, while Mike Covier has the biggest standings jump, moving up 119 places to 93rd overall, thanks to a 707 point week.

A whopping TWELVE trades went down this week as teams either A) Panic, B) Try to capitalize on other managers’ panic, or C) There is no C).

Most of these deals are pretty fair.  I swapped some closers for hitters this week as I started to realize how many closers I had on some teams thanks to adding Pagan, Santana, Jackson, Holverson, and more.  I’ve since activated Diaz on many teams and added Bednar when he was called back up.  I think Bdenar recaptures that job within a couple weeks.  I’ll have to eat some Santana blow-ups in the meantime.

Anyway, El Nino makes me wish I had a Soderstrom to trade away.  He’s been a boon, but nabbing an ace is pretty sweet.

Then we have the Nick Kurtz trade.  Jobe is in first place right now (though he changes his team name more frequently than his underwear, now it’s something something Raleigh, something) so I can’t talk too much junk for another few months, but eesh.  Guess we’ll see where the player rater shakes this one out at the end of the season.  I will say, the trade was impeccably timed.

RCL 20, RCL 31, RCL 32, and RCL 33 each had two different teams on the leaderboard this week.  We set a new record for weekly wins with nine, unfortunately, it was a three-way tie.  We also tied the weekly saves record, which is now a three-way tie as well.

Summary: How do I sign up for a week like this?  The average is a little low, but who cares?  Three true outcomes week with some sparkling ratios is all one can ask for.  Fernando Tatis Jr., Brent Rooker, and midweek add Austin Hays paced the offense with nine hits each. Hays hit .450 with two home runs and four batted in in 20 ABs. Nice pickup!  Tatis crushed four homers, scored nine runs, and drove in seven, while Rooker hit .360 with two home runs.  Kameron Misner (4 for 7/2 HR/3 RBI) and Mike Yastrzemski (2 for 5/HR/3 RBI) were only around for a combined 12 at-bats, but proved wise additions.  The Gas Station was a batty call maven this week.  Max Fried (2 Wins/9 K/1.26/0.77) and Paul Skenes (1 Win/10 K/2.08/0.77) were the clear aces, but Landen Roupp contributed nicely with two Wins and 17 strikeouts. Cristopher Sanchez added 12 Ks in seven innings and earned the victory. Jeff Hoffman had two saves while Luke Jackson, Aroldis Chapman, and Ryan Helsley added one each.  The big week gained The Gas Station 14.5 points, and they now sit ten points ahead of RCL 29.  Very nice!
