Razzball Commenter Leagues, Week 21, 2025 Fantasy Baseball

We’re going to be short and sweet this week since your Razzball Commenter Leagues host is currently on vacation with the fam.  I’m bumping around Grey’s old stomping ground, taking in all the Jersey shore has to offer.  I have just returned from enjoying some frozen custard from Kohr’s and managed to fit in a pork roll breakfast sandwich this morning.  What approach do you take with fantasy baseball while on vacation?  I am one who tends to take some time in the morning to set all my lineups and then doesn’t really check back until the next day.  It’s a nice little unplug in the middle of the season, recharging the batteries for a last push.  RCLs don’t rest, though, so here are all the goods from the week that was, week 21:

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

Absolutely no movement here this week.  The top got a little further apart as Kirksey lost three points, but Mike C also lost one, so no huge gains.  Grey had the biggest gain this week with three points.  All’s quiet for now.

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

One more week to make a move here.  Here are our current finalists:

Rudy and Mike C are still hanging in there, as is former overall RCL champ, mauledbypandas!

WEEKLY LEADERS

The best of the best from the week that was.

R – 61 – Young Guns IV (The Laura Holt Challenge) & Laura (The Laura Holt Challenge)

HR –22 – Chrismannella (RCL 6) & Squat Cobblers 4 (RCL 24)

RBIs – 67 – Writer6636 (RCL 20)

SB – 18 – Bzerko13 (RCL 9)

AVG – .327 – Hometown Hero (RCl 8)

K – 92 – Mike Couillard (RCL 5)

W – 9 – Laura (The Laura Holt Challenge)

SV –  9 – JamScandal (NOTLZ) & Baseball Players Team (RCL 21)

ERA (Min. 40 IP) – 1.23 – Freebirds (RCL 28) (in 44 IP)

WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.793 – Big Dumper in my Chourios (RCL 21) (in 46.2 IP)

No new records this week, but LHC showed out!  Impressive stuff.  With my being on vacation, VinWins takes over the stats for the week:

17 teams had an ERA below 2.00.

51 were above 6!

17 teams hit under .200 (26 last week)

19 teams hit over .300. (18 last week)

76.8% of the schedule has been completed. 768 IP would be on pace for the 1000 IP minimum. 1066 IP is on pace for the maximum 1400 IP.

2 teams reached 1400 IP this week:

August 13 RCL #10 Something Witty 80 pts/37 moves/ 1418 IP/ 90 WINS/ 4 SAVES/1384 K/ 3.52/1.169

August 15 RCL #25 IronRipken 78 PTS/39 moves/ 1410.33 IP/ 73 WINS/ 0 SAVES/ 1409 K/ 3.82/1.248

4 teams in RCL 25 have 0 saves (Which is where Texas Leaguer has 149).

The season-long SB race got heated this week:

August 10

202 milothecat (Night of the Living Zombinos)

200 password is taco (RCL 2025 #12)

August 17

216 password is taco (RCL 2025 #12)

205 milothecat (Night of the Living Zombinos)

205 Eat Crow, Armstrong (RCL 2025 #23)

And finally, a note on the current ERA leader, Benchbat (RCL 14).  They are an abandoned team, but did participate in the draft. They have only had 4 SP in their lineup the whole season – Framber, Woo, Brown, and Yamamoto. (The other 2 SPs they drafted that have been on the bench, Rasmussen & Lodolo, wouldn’t have hurt the ERA either.) 574 IP from the starters. If they all continue injury-free, the team will surpass 1000 IP. Not great K numbers, but amazing they didn’t have one misstep on the pitcher drafting. And their RPs all have an ERA under 3. Their hitting could have used some managing, though. 23 points, despite drafting Cal & Julio.

Benchbat (RCL 14)

3.01 Framber Valdez 152.1 IP

3.02 Bryan Woo 152 IP

2.45 Hunter Brown 143 IP

2.84 Yoshinobu Yamamoto 126.2 IP

2.82 Carlos Estevez 54.1 IP

2.05 Josh Hader 52.2 IP

4.70 Griffin Jax 51.2 IP

1.15 Aroldis Chapman 47 IP

2.51 Orion Kerkering 46.2 IP

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: Laura

League: The Laura Holt Challenge

Stats:   AVG: .261, R: 61, HR: 20, RBI: 59, SB: 12

IP: 74.1, ERA: 4.60, WHIP: 1.265, K: 75, W: 9, SV: 3

Summary: Appearing on both sides of the weekly leaderboard is usually a good sign for TOW honors, but I swear I’ve had better ratios and ended up with two wins.  Nine is crazy.  Christian Yelich paced the offense with four home runs and 12 driven in while hitting .444. Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit only .211, but contributed two homers and seven stolen bases. Ketel Marte hit .400 and also had two long balls with eight driven in. Jose Ramirez (2 HR/2 SB) and Taylor Ward (2 HR/8 Runs) were also key. On the pitching side, Joe Ryan (Win/7 K), Hunter Greene (Win/6 K), Joey Wentz (Win/5 K), and Cade Horton (Win/8 K) combined for a 1.11 ERA in 24.1 innings. Unfortunately for Laura, Ryne Nelson Jose Soriano, Sonny Gray, and Jose Berrios blew up her ratios a bit. Kyle Leahy, Emilio Pagan, Phil Maton, and JoJo Romero didn’t help either, though Maton did get a save. Also earning saves were Trevor Megill and Jose Ferrer.  The nice week gained Laura 14 points and moved her up from 7th to 3rd in her challenging league.
