Razzball Commenter Leagues, Week 12, 2025 Fantasy Baseball

The baseball world was left stunned Sunday evening.  There I was, enjoying the last bits of relaxation my family afforded me on Father’s Day, feet up, scrolling through my feed, when I see Rafael Devers on the move to SF.  Makes sense, given the clear fumbling of this relationship on both sides.  However, the return screams, “we just want you gone and can’t stand another minute of you, so we can shop for anything of value”.  Which is a lot to scream and nets you an injured bullpen-pseudo-starter, and starter who immediately gets sent to AAA, and a couple of mid prospects.  Not even Bryce Eldridge, a clear answer to the Sawx first base woes.  For those of us in the RCLs, this doesn’t do much of anything for us.  It does mess up my one team that had a nice little Red Sox stack going, and it does clear a path to regular ABs for Mayer and Toro, at least until Bregman comes back.  If MLB owners had veto power like RCL managers, this trade would have gotten shot down in a nanosecond.  Let owners manage, I guess.  Here’s the news from the week that was week 12 in our fake baseball world:

‘PERTY ‘PERTS

Each week we’ll peek in at our resident ‘perts to see who is laying claim to best “expert” RCLer in the land.  We’ll take notes, check the standings and generally stalk them.  The heading is also hyperlink, so feel free to follow along as we go.

It was Father’s Day weekend, so naturally, Dad (Son) moved a little closer to the league lead.  Kirksey lost six points this week, the biggest drop in the league, and Son now sits just eight points out of first.  Grey and TLB gained the most points this week (four), with TLB moving into fourth and Grey jumping up two places to fifth.

RAZZSLAM STANDINGS UPDATE

Each week we’ll also take a look at the top ten overall standings in our other Razzball sponsored league, the RazzSlam.  This is our NFBC Best Ball league with managers from all across the industry, from content providers to fans and readers just like you.

It’s a good week for dads, brand new dad, Rob Sherwood held onto first overall for another week, working that new baby swag.  Taylor Case continued their rise up the rankings, stopping at second overall after bursting into the top ten last week.  Former number one, Zachary Meyer, has hit a rough spell, falling to fifth overall.  Asher Dratel had the most points this week (767), and @Csmasel moved up the most places (35) thanks to 659 points of their own.

We just finished week 12, and there are four more weeks to land in the top two of your league and move to the championship bracket.

TRADES

All the trades that have gone down in the past week.  Public ridicule is not only allowed, but encouraged.

6/15/2025 RCL 18

Diamond Archers traded Freddy Peralta to Texas Aardwolves for Tyler Soderstrom & Jac Caglianone

Quiet trading week with just five deals getting done.  I should have taken the week off, as I traded for Ragans just days before the shoulder injury was announced.  If ctown knew something I didn’t, good on you, but I really think this was just unfortunate timing.  I hope.  Of course, this is the only league I’ve had any traction in and moved into first place this past week.  So much for momentum, I guess.

I like the deal for Soderstrom and Jac, should be good for both sides.

WEEKLY LEADERS

The best of the best from the week that was.

WHIP (Min. 40 IP) – 0.689 – Blow Jobes or Rosterbation? (RCl 34) (in 40.2 IP)

No new weekly records this week, but RCL 19 had a great showing with three teams on the board!

We did have a change in the overall ERA leader for a second straight week, however.  Ralf_B (RCL 25) has tossed 452.33 IP and now sits with a 2.37 ERA.

Some more stats from the week, courtesy of VinWins:

39 teams had an ERA below 2.00. 28 were above 6.00.

3 teams hit under .200  (7 last week)

35 teams hit over .300.  (19 last week)

44% of the schedule has been completed. 440 IP would be on pace for the 1000 IP minimum. 617 IP is on pace for the maximum 1400 IP.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Our weekly shout out to the team that killed it the previous week.

Team: Stabby Crabbies

League: Crab Army

Stats:   AVG: .282, R: 50, HR: 15, RBI: 46, SB: 11

IP: 50.2, ERA: 1.78, WHIP: 0.947, K: 54, W: 4, SV: 3

Summary: A nice week for the Stabby Crabbies as they chip away at my lead.  More weeks like this will have them in first in no time.  The big week netted them 9.5 points, and they moved from fourth to third.  The return from injuries by Jordan Westburg (3 HR/8 RBI) and Evan Carter (4 for 9 with a homer and 2 steals) sparked the offense. The addition of Josh Smith on Thursday was also key as he hit .438 with 2 home runs and scored 9 runs. Yandy Diaz hit .455 with a round tripper while Jose Ramirez, Jose Caballero, and Trea Turner each chipped in a couple steals.  On the pitching side, Spencer Schwellenbach’s complete game victory led the way (9 strikeouts) while Ranger Suarez (0 ER/6 K), Kodai Senga (0 ER/5 K), and Bailey Falter also picked up wins. Noah Cameron contributed 7 strikeouts in 5 shutout innings. Grant Holmes struck out 9 in 5 and a 3rd early in the week, but also allowed 3 runs and 8 baserunners and was dropped before his 15 K performance Sunday. Oh, well. Can’t win them all. Five relievers threw 8.1 scoreless innings, with David Bednar earning 2 saves.  It’s wild that this week could have been even more impressive with just one move.  Heck of a week, regardless.
