The Orioles announced that they have claimed right-hander Nick Avila off release waivers from the Giants. The Giants announced yesterday that Avila had been released, but it seems he had not yet cleared waivers. The righty has been optioned to Triple-A Norfolk and placed on the minor league injured list. Baltimore’s 40-man roster had a vacancy but it is now full.
