The New York Giants’ tenure of running back Saquon Barkley has come to an end.
As expected, Barkley found more on the open market than general manager Joe Schoen was willing to spend on him. The two sides were so far apart that the Giants didn’t even make their superstar back a contract offer this time around.
Adding insult to injury, Barkley has agreed to terms with the Giants’ chief rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, and will now play his former team twice per season over the next three seasons.
Here is how Giants X, formerly known as Twitter, reacted to the news of Barkley’s defection.
Well there you have it. End of an era for the Giants and Saquon Barkley.
The Giants lose their top offensive player maker from last season to a heated rival.
As much as I was concerned with asset allocation, this one still doesn’t sit right with me.

Stunned that Howie Roseman was the GM willing to go this high for a RB. Incredible win for Saquon to cash in this big after getting tagged and having a down season. That he’ll face the Giants twice per season really adds to this storyline!

This was my reaction when the Giants made a mistake that set them back years in April of 2018. Glad Saquon got paid. Good luck. Giants can finally move forward. pic.twitter.com/dAu6RBGWS5
