The Memphis Tigers and head coach Penny Hardaway have agreed on a six-year contract extension, the school announced Wednesday. The contract is worth $16.5 million plus incentives, running through 2028.
“As I have said many times, this is a dream position for me, and I do not take it for granted,” Hardaway said.
Hardaway, 51, became the head coach of Memphis in 2018-19. In four seasons, Hardaway’s record is 84-43. The program has four consecutive 20-win seasons and an appearance in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, where they advanced to the second round before losing to Gonzaga.
Memphis finished 22-11 last season. The Tigers open their season on Nov. 7 against Vanderbilt.
