Max Klare was a 3-star prospect from St. Xavier High School. He earned All-State honors in his senior season. He was also a First-Team All-League player in baseball. He would end up committing to play his college ball at Purdue University. It took a few years for Klare’s talent to be unleashed, but by his junior season, it was. He led the Boilermakers in receiving yards, receptions, and touchdowns, nearly doubling the next closest pass catcher. He would then enter the transfer portal as a 4-star prospect and land at Ohio State, hoping to maximize his development for the NFL.
At Ohio State, Klare had a solid senior season. While he did not lead the team in receiving, he still ranked third among Ohio State pass catchers. He earned First-Team All-Big Ten honors, and his best game as a Buckeye came against Rutgers, when he recorded 7 receptions for 105 yards.

Rookie Profile | Strengths and Weaknesses
Max Klare is a highly regarded tight end prospect for his athleticism. On tape, you can clearly see the speed mismatch he creates, especially when working vertically and finding separation. At Ohio State, he was asked to run a full route tree and often lined up in the slot, which highlights his versatility as a pass catcher.
He looks like the type of tight end who can consistently exploit zone coverage, showing a strong feel for finding soft spots in the short areas of the field. Klare also offers upside after the catch, with the athleticism to create extra yardage once the ball is in his hands. He is not afraid to challenge defenders in space either, even attempting to hurdle tacklers when the opportunity is there. On the flip side, when watching Klare’s film, he can come off as inconsistent at times in the games I evaluated. His blocking shows flashes of being solid, but there are reps where he doesn’t get to his assignment quickly enough or displays poor technique. That will be a key area to clean up at the NFL level if he wants to stay on the field consistently. His ball skills are also more average than elite. There are some routine drops on tape, which is an issue that dates back to his time at Purdue. Because of that, there’s still some development needed in his overall game.
I don’t view him as a true Day 1 impact tight end compared to some others in this class, but the athletic upside gives him a path to grow into a valuable contributor with the right coaching and development.
His upside is a Dalton Kincaid–type receiving tight end, while his floor is closer to a Greg Dulcich–type inconsistent option.
Max Klare | All-22 Film Breakdowns
The Dynasty Nerds All-22 Film Room is a fantastic resource and well worth the investment to study these NFL prospects. Max Klare has plenty of quality film available, and one of his best performances came against Rutgers. At the 2:24 mark, Klare slips underneath the defense for a wide-open catch, showing his speed in the open field as he turns it up and gains over 30 yards after the catch. On a negative note, at the 3:37 mark, there’s a run play where Klare is too slow getting to his assignment, allowing the defender to blow up the play. Then at the 5:35 mark, you see another crosser—one of his strengths—where he finds open space, picks up extra yards, and even attempts to hurdle a defender.
Draft Capital | Potential Landing Spots
Max Klare is likely a late Day 2 or early Day 3 pick, and landing spot will be key for his development. The Chiefs could be an ideal fit, allowing him to redshirt behind Travis Kelce and Noah Gray, while the Ravens also make sense as a spot where he can develop behind Mark Andrews. Both teams offer a strong environment for a high-upside athletic tight end to grow into a larger role.
