LeBron James reveals why he’s no longer a Cowboys fan

LeBron James recently revealed why he doesn’t root for the Cowboys any longer.

Celebrity fandoms can be really intriguing. Who doesn’t love the comedy of seeing Drake jump from team-to-team? And it’s cool to see top-name actors root for small market teams like the Kansas City Chiefs. But perhaps most intriguing is the dynamic of pro athletes in other sports supporting teams.

Sometimes it’s players supoporting the other teams in-town, like Joel Embiid does for the Eagles. Or, it can be because they grew up there, like Stephen Curry’s support of the Carolina Panthers.

LeBron James has always been an avid supporter of his teams. The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Dallas Cowboys were forever at the top of his list. He recently revealed, though, that he’s no longer a Cowboys fan, and that might surprise some people since he was previously so vocal in his support of the team, even showing up to a game here and there.

LeBron James reveals the reason why he’s no longer a Cowboys fan

On an Instagram live session with Maverick Carter, LeBron James revealed why he’s no longer a fan of the Big Star:

It all stems from the tone the team took with players wanting to use their status on the team as a platform for activism, with owner Jerry Jones going so far as to say players wouldn’t play in Dallas if they took a knee during the national anthem.

It doesn’t sound like James is completely off the team, though, revealing he still has a lot of respect and support in his heart for players on the team. He specifically called out Ezekiel Elliot (of course, he’s a Buckeye) and had glowing words for Micah Parsons. He also mentioned Trevon Diggs.

So, if not the Cowboys, then who?

James said he’s all in on the Browns, the hometown team. Not exactly a morally upstanding team there right now, either.

The Cowboys will be just fine without LeBron’s support, but it’s no small loss in the celebrity fan column.
