On their Sunday night loss in the hands of the Portland Trail Blazers, the Los Angeles Lakers endured another disastrous showing bannered by abysmal shooting from distance.
LeBron James, who chalked up 31 points but went two-for-nine from three, offered honest insights with regards to the team’s ice-cold shooting, but reiterates optimism to still maintain that competitive fire.
“I mean, we can’t shoot a penny in the ocean,” James said. “But it hasn’t stopped us from competing and stopped us from defending. That’s given us a chance in all three games to win.”
The Lakers drained lowly numbers from the three-point land collectively, going for 6-for-33 (18.2 percent) facing the Blazers. Their recent horrible display only mounts 25-for-118 shots made across three games.
Per StatMuse, the ballclub currently ranked 30th in offensive rating, field goal percentage, and three-point efficiency. As such, the only bright spot they can be proud of is their defensive rating that ranks fifth league-wide.
The Lakers can only hope to snap their losing slump and chilling touch from deep as they face the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.
