Fisch gets recruiting win as four-star ATH chooses Washington

As the new head coach at Washington — a school that just came up short in the national championship game — Jedd Fisch needs to get as much early momentum as he can.

Frankly, and especially with the move to the Big Ten, most aren’t expecting Washington to be as competitive in the post-Kalen DeBoer era. Not only is DeBoer gone and Fisch in, but several star players were lost to the NFL, including quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and star wide receiver Rome Odunze.

It’s up to Fisch to change the narrative for the Huskies quickly, and the easiest way to build some long-term hype is on the recruiting trail.

As such, the latest commitment for Washington is a massive one. Jonathan Epperson, four-star athlete/linebacker from Auburn, Washington has decided to stay in-state and play for the Huskies.

“The culture at Washington is great. You truly feel like you’re a part of the family. The opportunities for a great life after football are amazing,” Epperson told 247Sports regarding his commitment. “I really like the coaches. They bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the program.”

Arizona, Utah and Oregon were also in the running for Epperson, so this is a huge win for the Huskies.

Defensively, Epperson hybrids as a hybrid linebacker/safety at the college level. He also plays running back for his high school. Per 247Sports, he’s ranked as the No. 14 athlete in the 2025 class.
