It is championship week in college football, with titles on the line in all ten conferences and all four College Football Playoff bids truly up in the air. Could LSU beat top-ranked Georgia and become the first SEC champion to not earn a Playoff bid? Can TCU close the deal on an undefeated regular season and their first Big 12 title since 2014? Can USC avenge its lone loss to Utah and finish a remarkable turnaround while also taking back its place as a title contender? Could Purdue, Utah, and Kansas State create a bit of chaos in the proceedings by pulling off upsets?
While the ACC title game has zero bearing on the national title picture, it should be a raucous scene in Charlotte as Clemson attempts to take back its dominance in the conference while North Carolina attempts to win their first league title since 1980. We get the two top Mountain West programs, Boise State and Fresno State, battling it out on the smurf turf. North Texas and UTSA face off in the Alamodome, Coastal Carolina takes on Troy to finish off an electric Sun Belt season, and Ohio attempts to win its first conference title in 54 years with a win over Toledo.
There are a couple of regular season games thrown into the mix (Valparaiso-New Mexico State and the snowed-out Akron-Buffalo game), but this weekend is all about winning trophies. And here are the 15 players to watch with championships on the line.
