Congrats to Travis d’Arnaud, who will now get to spend some time away from his zombified coworkers in the throes of familial and filial bliss.
Also congrats to Chadwick Tromp, who returns to a 68 wRC+ but some very good teeny-tiny-sample defensive stats so far in the majors in 2024, such that he has 0.3 fWAR in 54 PAs (that’s a 3.3 fWAR/600 pace) despite the anemic batting line.
Notably absent: Drake Baldwin, who was not recalled to hang out on the bench. Sean Murphy’s gonna get all the starts, anyway.
d’Arnaud temporarily leaves behind a 109 wRC+ and matching-ish xwOBA. The Braves will likely turn to Sean Murphy in full while d’Arnaud hangs out with his baby; Murphy’s xwOBA has slid down to .305, but the fact that he’s underhit it by over .020 (80 wRC+) is especially brutal.
