The New York Giants will be hosting the Detroit Lions in joint practices on Monday and Tuesday at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center in East Rutherford.
The head coaches — Dan Campbell of the Lions and the Giants’ Brian Daboll — were both optimistic the workouts would be fruitful.

The respect between the coaches is mutual. Daboll said, “It’s all about competition. … We’ve got a lot of respect for these guys.”

Campbell said the Lions would have “tests all over the field” against the Giants this week, especially against the Giants pass rush of Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Dexter Lawrence.
Lions coach Dan Campbell said Dexter Lawrence is one of the best in the game right now. “You have to go against top-tier players to get better. … You find out a lot about guys” in joint practices.

Daboll said quarterback Daniel Jones (knee) would have “no restrictions” in these practices.
Campbell is also looking forward to his first-round pick, cornerback Terrion Arnold, facing off against the Giants’ top pick, wide receiver Malik Nabers.
Additionally, Campbell spoke about his time here with the Giants as a player and once again thanked the organization for drafting him back in 1999.
“It’s special to be back,” he said. “They gave me a go, and I probably wouldn’t be here had it not been for them.”
In injury news, center John Michael Schmitz (shoulder) will be out again. Greg Van Roten will get the first-team reps.
