After losing Ronald Acuña Jr. to a season-ending injury, the Atlanta Braves will likely be on the lookout for an outfielder between now and the trade deadline. According to their transactions log, the Braves have signed veteran Ramon Laureano to a minor league deal and assigned him to Gwinnett.
Additionally, the #Braves also signed OF Ramon Laureano to a MiLB deal today and he’s in the lineup for the @GoStripers at Norfolk tonight. Laureano has played parts of 7 MLB seasons with Oakland and Cleveland, and was released by the Guardians on May 25. https://t.co/qvr1lkf2RQ

Laureano was an above average player for the Athletics who battled injuries and also received an 80-game suspension after testing positive for PEDs. Oakland designated him for assignment in 2023 and he was claimed off waivers by the Guardians. He appeared in 41 games for Cleveland last season and hit .243/.342/.382 with three homers in 158 plate appearances.
He began this season back in Cleveland but struggled hitting just .143/.265/.229 and had a strikeout rate of 38.6%. He was designated for assignment and released by the Guardians last week.
Laureano is a veteran that could slot into a corner outfield spot, but just hasn’t had much success at the plate in recent seasons. He is in the lineup for Gwinnett Wednesday.
