Lopez experienced soreness in his forearm during a start against the New York Mets on July 28. An MRI exam came back clean but the Braves opted to shut him down and placed him on the 15-day injured list. Lopez made one rehab start at Gwinnett last week and Brian Snitker confirmed after Sunday’s game in Anaheim that Lopez would rejoin the rotation for Tuesday’s game.
Herget had been serving as an extra arm for the bullpen. He’s appeared in eight games this season, mostly in mop up duty, and has a 4.38 ERA and a 3.57 FIP in 12 1⁄3 innings.
