The Atlanta Braves announced that they have reinstated reliever Pierce Johnson from the 15-day injured list. Johnson was placed on the IL retroactively to May 1 with elbow inflammation. Jackson Stephens was outrighted to Gwinnett to make room on the active roster.

Brian Snitker said early on that they didn’t think Johnson’s injury was serious, but they wanted to give him some time to make sure. Johnson threw a live batting practice session Wednesday and came out of it feeling good. Johnson has appeared in 13 games this season and has a 3.00 ERA and a 2.78 FIP in 12 innings.
Ray Kerr’s impressive showing caused Stephens to be the odd man out even though he was out of options. Stephens has filled a utility knife sort of role out of the Braves bullpen for parts of the last three seasons. He appeared in three games where he allowed five hits and one run in 3 1⁄3 innings.
