Braves recall Darius Vines, option Bryce Elder to Gwinnett

Atlanta Braves announced that they have recalled right-hander Darius Vines and optioned Bryce Elder to Gwinnett between games of Monday’s doubleheader. Vines will be a candidate to start Thursday’s game in Chicago if he isn’t needed out of the bullpen before then.

This will be Vines’ second stint on the active roster this season. He made his season debut in a start in Houston where he held them to one run over 4 23 innings. Vines stuck in the rotation from there and made one more start against Texas where he allowed seven hits and four runs over five innings. In six starts at Gwinnett, he has a 4.58 ERA and a 5.36 FIP in 35 13 innings.

Elder allowed six earned runs and lasted just three innings in Sunday’s loss to the Padres. He’s allowed 15 runs over his last three starts encompassing 11 23 innings.
