As good as Saturday’s victory was for the Braves with the walk-off by Adam Duvall, the overall offensive struggles returned and rolled over into Sunday. Despite taking a 1-0 lead early, the Braves eventually lost 4-2 due to two two-run home runs by the Pirates off of Spencer Schwellenbach in the fifth inning. The Braves could not find the needed hits to come back, and it resulted in another missed opportunity to earn a series sweep on Sunday.
Fortunately, they were able to secure a series win after some mid-week struggles. However, while any sort of series win is a positive for the Braves at the moment, Sunday was an unfortunate reminder that our offensive struggles continue to make it difficult to truly scale up to win at the level we have over the past few summers.
