We all knew it was coming when Austin Riley left the game in the ninth last night to attend to his fatherly duties, and, well, here it is:
The Braves’ best hope might be that Nick Martinez has some kind of mental block about starting, because he’s been straight-up dominant as a reliever so far this year, after struggling as a starter in his first few tries. Alternatively, Chris Sale could throw a perfect game. Yeah, that’s the ticket.
Anyway, the Reds line up like this:
Austin Slater, Rece Hinds, and Santiago Espinal were all absent from the lineup yesterday, so basically Sale is going to have to mow through a bunch of righties to keep this one close and winnable.
