Braves change up pitching plans, will start Ray Kerr Thursday instead of Reynaldo Lopez

The Braves have made a change in their rotation for Thursday night’s game against the Washington Nationals. Originally Reynaldo Lopez had been announced and scheduled to pitch but the team announced after the game Wednesday night that LHP Ray Kerr would be starting that game instead.

They’ve given Lopez extra rest whenever possible, not that surprising for someone who spent the last 3 years as a reliever, and will do so again with this move. Inserting Kerr into Thursday’s starting spot means the four guys in Atlanta’s rotation (Fried, Sale, Morton, and Lopez) will all get extra rest, as will Spencer Schwellenbach if he continues in Atlanta’s rotation.

It’ll be Kerr’s second start of the season.
