Two Rookies will be taking the mound in the series finale of the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. A.J. Smith Shawver will be making his season debut, and Ben Brown will be making his twelfth appearance and fifth start of his young career.
Smith-Shawver faced the Cubs last year in September and went 3.2 IP while allowing one run on zero hits, one walk and two strikeouts against a lineup that that is largely the same. He has been struggling in AAA, so hopefully he can get things going against a lineup that he had positive results against last time he faced them.
Ben Brown went 2.0 innings against the Braves less than two weeks ago giving up four hits (two doubles), an earned run, and three strikeouts.
After the Braves offense exploded last night, here is to hoping it continues today.
