Back to our regularly scheduled programming: Rays 11, Orioles 1

You couldn’t script Friday night’s game against the Orioles any better.

Before the contest, Brandon Lowe was activated from the 10-Day IL and Curtis Mead was optioned to AAA Durham. Lowe went 1-4 with a single.

Tampa Bay jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first. Chandler Simpson extended his franchise-leading rookie hitting streak to 17 with a double in the first inning

On the second pitch that Home Run Derby runner-up Junior Caminero saw, a 115 MPH, 539-foot blast off of the Steinbrenner Field scoreboard, and his 25th of the season.

In the second, Danny Jansen smashed a solo shot of his own to make it 4-0.

In the bottom of the third, Josh Lowe doubled in Yandy Diaz to make it 5-0 for the Flappy Boys.

In the sixth is where the wheels fell off for the Baltimore pitching staff.

Yandy Diaz stroked a patented opposite field shot to right for a grand slam to open the floodgates 10-0.

Caminero must have wanted to follow suit, as he launched his second of the partly cloudy, 91-degree evening to right to make it 11-0.

Taj Bradley was masterful over six frames, striking out six and only allowing three hits.

The Orioles plated a run in the ninth to make the final score 11–1.
