The Atlanta Braves’ bullpen has had some bad luck on the injury front as of late. However, manager Brian Snitker provided a promising update on one of the club’s injured relievers.
Pierce Johnson was placed on the 15-day injured list on May 4 with elbow inflammation. On Friday, though, the 33-year-old was scheduled to do some mound work, as reported by Justin Toscano of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Pierce Johnson is doing well, Brian Snitker said. He was scheduled to throw a touch-and-feel off the bullpen mound today.
No update on Tyler Matzek. He’s been shut down from throwing for a brief period.

Tyler Matzek was also placed on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 5, with his own case of elbow inflammation. Snitker did not provide an update on his injury, except that he had been shut down from throwing.
Hopefully, each of them will recover well and get back to the pen in due time.
