Atlanta Braves News: Ozzie Albies rehabs, tough finish in Cincy, more


Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies has returned to the diamond in the form of a rehab assignment with the Gwinnett Stripers. He had a huge first outing and recorded two hits, one being a three-run home run. He logged six innings at second base.

Albies, who has been on the injured list since late July, will likely make another rehab appearance today and could rejoin the Braves as early as Friday.

The Cleveland Guardians placed left-fielder Steven Kwan on the 10-day injured list with an apparent back injury. To replace his spot on the active roster, the club selected the contract of Myles Straw.

The Kansas City Royals have placed reliever James McArthur on the 15-day injured list with an elbow sprain. In a corresponding move, the club recalled right-hander Steven Cruz.

Houston Astros outfielder Ben Gamel has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left fibula. The move is retroactive to September 15.

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho will wrap up the 2024 campaign early and undergo shoulder surgery. The club does not have an exact timetable for his return, but rehabbing into next year’s Spring Training has not been ruled out.

The Philadelphia Phillies reinstated Alec Bohm from the 10-day injured list and announced that catcher Aramis Garcia has passed through waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
