Yesterday, the Rays new stadium project received funding from the Hillsborough County commission, which means the team will now be able to move forward and break ground on a Rays ballpark in Tampa.

Astonishingly, only 15% of voters found themselves skeptical or not confident the Rays would indeed get their new ballpark approved in Tampa, a remarkable vote of confidence in the new leadership under principal owner Patrick Zalupski and CEO Ken Babby.
The $2.3 billion stadium project, which sees the Rays funding 60% of the stadium (plus cost overruns) while benefitting from building a mixed use development around the ballpark, will commence construction next month.
