We dive back into some recent camp hype, trades, signings, and injury reports and break down the 2026 fantasy impact and what it all means for your dynasty rosters.
🔗 Build Your Dynasty
Kayshon Boutte Traded to Houston Texans | Jayden Higgins to IR
The Texans second-year receiver Jayden Higgins suffered a season-ending ACL tear during practice, which now puts him out for the season. The Texans clearly acted quickly, as within a week they made a cheap trade with the Patriots, sending Jaylen Reed and a 2027 7th-round pick for Patriots receiver Kayshon Boutte.
For the Texans, Boutte gives them a solid WR2 who can actually perform on the field. Boutte offers dynasty managers FLEX value in their lineups. Last season, through the first 8 games, Boutte was WR23 with the Patriots, acting as their WR2. While the quarterback value may have changed with the move to Houston, Boutte can still be a good value. He is someone I’d hold in dynasty because he is also in a contract year, so expect him to try to prop up his value for the offseason.
I think this can help Nico Collins as well, just to have another talented receiver on the field who could be a threat in the passing game. It should take some of the pressure that was going to be on him with Higgins out. There are some receivers trending down, like Tank Dell and Xavier Hutchinson, who likely would have played the other outside role in the offense. It also tells me the team doesn’t fully trust Dell to play full snaps.
Jaylin Noel drops slightly with his target potential, but he is likely playing in the slot role for the offense. Also, the sneaky upside I had on Dalton Schultz at tight end has faded, but he is still a good value for any contending team looking for a cheap TE.
For the Patriots, it clarifies that A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs will be the top two target leaders for the Patriots’ offense this year. While Drake Maye may see a small dip just due to losing a familiar, safe target he had in 2025 in Boutte, I’m sure that will change in time to either Brown or Doubs.
The biggest beneficiary has to be Kyle Williams, the former second-round pick who has flashed in some of these preseason games. He now comes in as WR4 and is an injury away from the starting lineup. I also wonder if the Patriots will end up using more TE2 sets with Hunter Henry and rookie favorite Eli Raridon in their offense more.
Takeaway: Boutte is on the rise, but I’d still consider him a hold in dynasty. Go buy low if you are rebuilding on Jayden Higgins, and do it in September. The starters on both offenses should see an increase in value and production in the 2026 season.
Ashton Jeanty Injury
The shocking weekend news about Ashton Jeanty getting injured during practice and hearing that “he couldn’t put pressure on his one leg” had the dynasty world on a crazy train. Thankfully, it turned out to be an ankle sprain rather than a season-ending injury.
Recent reports indicate it’s more likely a low ankle sprain than a high ankle sprain. A low ankle sprain could have a 1-to-3-week recovery, while a moderate ankle sprain could take around 3-to-6 weeks.
That puts his status for the start of the season in jeopardy. For a team that finds itself risking its star running back, it may not be worth it, as they could put him on the PUP or have him miss the first few games. Enter Mike Washington, who has had some strong preseason games and could benefit greatly for dynasty owners who drafted him. If he starts a game or two, he would be very interesting based on his size and explosiveness.
Takeaway: Don’t panic-sell Ashton Jeanty because you’ll never get his actual value. I’d still sell high on Mike Washington, who could give borderline RB2 numbers if he gets a couple of starts. I’d look to get a 2027 2nd and 3rd back for him. Names in dynasty to consider are Dylan Laube and Roman Hemby until we have a full diagnosis.
Saints Injuires | Jorydn Tyson & Alvin Kamara
The Saints have gotten some bad news over the last week regarding some of their key skill players, as Jordyn Tyson and Alvin Kamara are expected to miss 1 to 2 months due to injuries. Tyson is obviously more important, especially for those who drafted him high in rookie drafts. This gives more red flags to a player who was already considered very injury-prone and now won’t be back until October. Kamara is dealing with an MCL sprain that will likely knock him out for the first three games to start the season.
Takeaway: I’m looking to sell Tyson to a rebuilding team, if I can. The injuries were already a concern, and the fact that he is injured again doesn’t bode well for his future. With Kamara, you probably lost your shot to sell him for anything right now. You have to hope and wait to see what his production looks like once he gets back on the field.
Other Injuries to Monitor
Breece Hall – Groin Injury: Hall seems to be trending in the right direction toward playing in Week 1. (Buy the Dip)
Jeremiyah Love – High Ankle Sprain: Love is dealing with a high ankle sprain, which realistically puts the start of his season in question. (Buy the Dip)
Sam LaPorta – Hip Injury: LaPorta’s hip injury has some concerns surrounding his availability for Week 1. (Look to Sell)
Kyle Monangai – Knee Injury: Monangai’s knee injury is still cloudy for Week 1. (Hold for now)
Emeka Egbuka – Toe Injury: There is still some concern with Egbuka’s toe injury as he continues to miss practice. The good news is that it has been called a stable toe sprain, but I don’t like receivers dealing with any type of foot or toe injury prior to the season. (Look to Sell)
DeShaun Watson Named Starter
Shocking news to some extent was the Browns announcing Deshaun Watson as the Week 1 starter, especially after his recent press conference. Whether it was the right move or not, it says more about Shedeur Sanders actually being outplayed by Watson for the job. The Browns case may simply be to give the guy you paid loads of money to one last shot, then see if the young quarterback can develop before the end of the season.
Takeaway: Sell high on Deshaun Watson in dynasty right now if you can. Even if you can get back a 2027 3rd, I’d make the move. For contenders, betting a 2028 3rd on Sanders may be the move if you need a QB3 for the season, since there’s almost a 0% chance Watson plays all 17 games this year.
Najee Harris Signs With Giants
We move over to some signings, with Najee Harris signing with the New York Giants. This is an interesting move, especially since it could affect Cam Skattebo’s status. It feels like he is insurance in case something happens to Skattebo, as Harris is also still recovering. I think if Skattebo gets hurt, they want that hard-hitting back to carry the workload in Harris. Let’s not forget Harris was once a four-time straight 1,000-yard rusher with six touchdowns to start his career, and that was only two years ago.
If Harris makes the team, that could raise some serious concerns for Tyrone Tracy, whom I liked prior to training camp starting. Unfortunately, Tracy has struggled in preseason games and is playing more, which is not a good indication.
Takeaway: The orange flags are still on for Cam Skattebo, who I still feel is a sell for less option in dynasty. Najee Harris, if still available, should be picked up off waivers. Keep your eyes on Tracy if he gets moved to another RB-needy team.
Keenan Allen Signs With Colts
Finally, veteran receiver Keenan Allen lands with the Colts on a one-year deal. The Colts had a clear need at receiver with Alec Pierce still on the PUP with only a few weeks before the season. Allen will give a veteran approach to a slightly young group. Despite heading into his age-34 season, Allen has remained a unicorn into his 30s. Allen, with two teams over the last four years, has averaged 120 targets, 800 yards, and 5 touchdowns.
There could be a realistic path for him to lead the team in targets. I would expect Allen and Josh Downs to split time in the slot throughout the season. This definitely hurts Downs, who likely won’t fully have the slot role and limits his upside a bit.
Takeaway: You’ve been given a chance to sell Allen for something now, likely a 2027 3rd. He should offer top-45 upside. Downs drops a bit from a breakout player to more of a sleeper play, where both receivers could see 800 yards. Continue to sell Alec Pierce for the 2026 season.
