Michael Trigg | TE | Baylor
Height: 6’4”
Weight: 240 lbs.
Michael Trigg attended high school at Seffner Christian Academy in Seffner, Florida. Trigg dominated on offense with 29 touchdowns, but was also a force on defense, playing defensive end. His abilities did not stop there; he was also a basketball star, averaging over 20 points per game during his sophomore and junior seasons. It was clear why Trigg was a consensus four-star recruit and an Under Armour All-American.

Trigg committed to playing college football at USC after considering offers from LSU and South Carolina. After one season at USC, Trigg transferred to Ole Miss. In 2022, Trigg caught a school-record three receiving touchdowns against Central Arkansas. In 2023, Ole Miss announced that Michael Trigg was no longer part of the team, but did not disclose specific reasons. Trigg entered the transfer portal for a second time, landing at Baylor, where he earned Second-team All-Big 12 in 2024 and First-team All-Big 12 in 2025. Trigg was also a finalist for the John Mackey Award, which is awarded to the nation’s top tight end.

Rookie Profile | Strengths and Weaknesses
The 2025 breakout season for Michael Trigg set career highs in all receiving categories. Trigg can high-point the football and make highlight-reel catches seem effortless. Trigg’s size and agility make him a matchup nightmare for linebackers, and his long arms make him a red-zone threat. His athleticism is apparent; he displays impressive yards-after-catch ability, consistently outrunning defenders in the open field. Trigg is the type of player that, if you do not scheme for him defensively, he has the ability to take over the game. In terms of player comparisions, I see a Oronde Gadsden ceiling with a Gerald Everett floor.
Like all prospects, Trigg has some concerns and weaknesses. First off, he is an older prospect, turning 24 in June, which also coincides with a late breakout age. Trigg also needs to improve his blocking technique. He needs to improve the pad level in his blocking, as he often looks for knockdowns instead of maintaining his block. Finally, there are concerns around Trigg’s character and maturity. There were rumors in Oxford that Trigg’s character was the reason he was dismissed from the team. Sometimes, Trigg’s effort level doesn’t show up on tape. While these are concerns, all of these issues can be fixed at the next level (outside of his age).
Michael Trigg | All-22 Film Breakdown
One of the greatest benefits of a Nerd Herd subscription is access to our All-22 Film Room, where you can study prospects like Michael Trigg for yourself. Currently, we have five games of Michael Trigg in our film room.
In the above All-22 film, the first play highlights Trigg’s dangerous yards-after-the-catch ability as he takes it to the house against Arizona State. In the next highlight against Kansas State, you see his ability to high-point the football. Also in that game, Trigg makes an insane one-handed catch showing off his circus like receiving ability.
Draft Capital | Potential Landing Spots
Trigg is currently my TE3 in this draft class, but that may change. As of this writing, Trigg projects to be an early Day 3 or late Day 2 prospect. I will be interested to see how he tests at the NFL Combine, as he is a physical freak, and with strong testing numbers. His Draft stock could rise immensely. As I said earlier, I see a lot of Oronde Gadsden in his game, and I think he would be a good option with the Denver Broncos. In terms of rookie drafts, I would feel comfortable selecting Trigg in the 3rd round of rookie drafts. In fact, in our recent Dynasty Nerds Mock Draft, I selected Trigg with the 3.07.
