FastDraft listened to the fantasy community. Players wanted more draftsfaster drafts, and rookie-only drafts without the responsibility of managing a team for an entire season. Since these are draft-only contests you can focus purely on roster construction. More on this next week!

While DFS is centered around weekly slates and rebuilding lineups every week, FastDraft offers a different approach: draft it and let it ride.

FastDraft is also a great tool to see—at any point during the year—who the fantasy community is high on and who they’re fading across the fantasy landscape.

🔗 Start Building Your Dynasty

For at least the next month, every Sunday, I’ll be posting an article highlighting strategies, risers, fallers, and sleepers from these FastDraft contests.

The goal is simple: help you draft smarter, gain an edge on the field, and potentially make some money by the end of the 2026 season.

Some weeks we’ll be jumping into a standard FastDraft, featuring a quick 15-round format. Other weeks, we’ll switch it up and dive into rookie-only FastDrafts, keeping things fast and focused with a 6-round draft.

Whether it’s breaking down veteran ADP movement or identifying rookie risers before the market catches up, each format will offer a different edge and another opportunity to sharpen your draft strategy.

Be on the lookout for some special announcements, as I’ll also be reaching out on Discord to invite members of the Nerd Herd to jump into live FastDrafts. If you put together an awesome draft, your team could even get a shoutout or featured mention in a future article.

Draft fast. Draft sharp. Let’s cook. 🔥🏈

FastDraft Basic Strategy | Drafting the Best Player Available

For our first article in this series, we’re going to keep things simple and approachable. We’ll dive much deeper into advanced strategies and roster construction concepts in future articles.

A straightforward (and very effective) approach in these best-ball formats is Best Player Available (BPA). Early in drafts, the goal is to accumulate as much raw talent as possible rather than forcing positional needs. Taking the best players on the board gives you flexibility and maximizes weekly scoring upside.

We’ll start with The Rabbit format, which features:

  • 15-round draft
  • 10-team league
  • Starting lineup:
    • 1 QB
    • 2 RB
    • 2 WR
    • 1 TE
    • 2 FLEX
  • 7 bench spots

In this format, drafting the best player available early sets the foundation for a strong, high-upside roster that can consistently compete throughout the season. It’s important to have varying lineups if you plan to do several. If it’s 50/50 with BPA, consider alternating rather than doubling down.

My FastDraft Team | Quick Roster Review

In my FastDraft, I selected from the 1.06 spot and approached the draft with a best player available strategy in each round.

Round Player Round Player Round Player
1 CeeDee Lamb 6 Carnell Tate 11 Oronde Gadsden
2 Trey McBride 7 Kyle Pitts 12 Jonathan Brooks
3 Derrick Henry 8 Jonah Coleman 13 Josh Downs
4 Drake Maye 9 Blake Corum 14 Travis Hunter
5 Zay Flowers 10 Bo Nix 15 Tyreek Hill

The draft could have gone better overall, but there are several areas where my roster is positioned well heading into the future.

At quarterback, I feel very comfortable with the value I landed. Drake Maye and Bo Nix give me two young, starting-caliber QBs that should continue to excel in 2026.

Tight end is another clear strength. Carrying three tight ends with upside gives this roster flexibility, and if Kyle Pitts lands in a great situation and Oronde Gadsden develops there is a lot of upside there.

Wide receiver is where some of the draft’s best value emerged late. In Rounds 13–15, I was able to add Josh DownsTravis Hunter, and Tyreek Hill, all of whom carry upside into 2026. The Colts could elevate Downs into a true WR2 role next season. Hunter’s return remains a question mark, but his raw talent keeps the ceiling intact. If Hill is released and lands with an elite offense, he could end up being the biggest steal of the entire draft.

The main concern with this roster is running back. Much of the 2026 outlook depends on Jonah ColemanBlake Corum, and Jonathan Brooks taking meaningful roles in their teams’ offenses. That uncertainty reflects a broader draft trend—elite running backs tend to go early, which is a strategic point I’ll dive into more deeply in a future article.
