Chris Brazzell II | Wide Receiver | Tennessee

Height: 6’5’’
Weight: 200 lbs

Chris Brazzell II attended Midland Legacy High School, where he emerged as a three-star prospect before committing to Tulane. His collegiate career began with adversity, as a shoulder injury cut his true freshman season short and led to a redshirt year.

In his redshirt freshman campaign, Brazzell quickly established himself as Tulane’s top receiving option, leading the team with 44 receptions for 711 yards. After Tulane’s coaching staff departed for Houston, Brazzell entered the transfer portal and ultimately continued his career at Tennessee.

Brazzell needed time to find his footing in Tennessee’s offense, but his second season marked a true breakout. He led the Volunteers in receiving yards (1,017) and touchdowns (9), earning First-Team All-SEC honors and cementing himself as a premier vertical weapon in the SEC.

Rookie Profile | Strengths and Weaknesses

Brazzell profiles as an explosive, field-stretching wide receiver with prototypical size. His long legs and smooth stride allow him to eat up ground quickly and generate natural separation downfield. He thrives against man coverage, using quick, early jabs at the line of scrimmage to gain leverage and stack defenders on vertical routes. Brazzell shows strong body control and excellent ball-tracking ability, consistently adjusting to the football in the air. At the top of his routes, he does a solid job creating space at the break point, giving quarterbacks clear throwing windows.

There are also areas of his game that need refinement. Brazzell must add functional strength, as physical cornerbacks can disrupt him at the line and knock him off timing routes. When his release is disrupted, he can struggle to re-establish leverage. He is an average contested-catch receiver despite his size, and his yards-after-catch production is limited due to a lack of consistent tackle-breaking ability. Effort is another concern on film, as Brazzell can be seen taking plays off when the ball is not coming his way, which limits his overall impact within the offense. Brazzell’s upside comparison is Christian Watson and his floor projects closer to Demarcus Robinson.

If you watch the short clip above, the first play highlights Brazzell’s ability to create separation at the breaking point of his route, allowing him to come open cleanly for the reception. On the following play, he flashes his downfield skill set by getting on top of the defender on a vertical route and adjusting well to an underthrown pass. His body control and tracking ability stand out in these moments, reinforcing why he profiles as an exciting and dangerous downfield receiver for any offense.

Draft Capital | Potential Landing Spots

Brazzell’s big-play ability makes him an intriguing NFL Draft prospect. He currently projects as a Day 2 selection, with a realistic range in Rounds 2–3.

A landing spot like the Buffalo Bills would make a lot of sense. Buffalo has long lacked a true speed-and-length receiver on the outside, with Keon Coleman and Gabe Davis never fully filling that role. Brazzell’s ability to stretch the field vertically would pair well with Josh Allen, opening up intermediate areas of the offense and adding a much-needed explosive element to the Bills passing attack.
