Coming out of Lincoln High School in Stockton, California, Jonah Coleman was only a three-star recruit. During his high school career, he rushed for 3,319 yards and 58 touchdowns on 334 carries. Coleman committed to the University of Arizona. Coleman transferred to the University of Washington during his junior season, where he was a Third-team All-Big Ten in 2024. In 2025, Coleman tied Washington’s modern era single-game record with 5 touchdowns with Corey Dillon and Hugh McElhenny.

Rookie Profile | Strengths and Weaknesses

Jonah Coleman really caught my attention after his 5-touchdown performance against UC Davis. At 5’9’’ 228 lbs, Coleman has a compact frame that has a knack for finding the endzone. His ball security is touted highly as Coleman has not fumbled in over 450 college carries (there is a debate in 2024 vs Oregon). Coleman’s compact frame also allows him to have fantastic contact balance. He can absorb contact and bounce off initial hits from defenders, making him dangerous as a short-yardage goal-line running back. Coleman’s strengths do not end there, as he is a reliable pass catcher, which gives him a three-down workhorse skill set.

As far as weaknesses in Coleman’s play style, he lacks true home run speed. He does not possess that game-changing speed, as I project him to run in the mid to low 4.5s. However, his game is built on his power and speed, so I am not worried about his speed in the NFL. His pass protection can also improve with proper technique and coaching. Fellow Dynasty Nerd Garret Price has comped Coleman to Doug Martin. Martin would be his ceiling, and Tyler Allgeier would be a good floor comparison. Let us not forget that Allgeier was a 1,000-yard rusher in his rookie season before Atlanta drafted Bijan Robinson.

Draft Capital | Potential Landing Spots

In terms of draft capital for Jonah Coleman, I project him to be a Day 2 running back. Coleman is my RB2 in the class and should be considered in the first round of your rookie drafts anywhere from 1.06 to 1.12. Recently, Dynasty Nerds Garret Price and Jagger May conducted a 1QB Mock Draft, in which Garret selected Coleman at 1.10. Coleman would be a great fit in New Orleans or with the Washington Commanders.
