Fernando Mendoza | Quarterback | Indiana
Height: 6’5’’
Weight: 225 lbs
Fernando Mendoza is fresh off a banner season with the Indiana Hoosiers, winning the Heisman Trophy and leading the fightin’ Curt Cignetti’s on an impressive performance in the College Football Playoffs as the top seed.

In his lone season with the Hoosiers, Mendoza put on a clinic in the pocket, throwing for 3,349 yards, 41 touchdowns, and only 6 interceptions. Finishing in the top-20 in passing yards and leading the country in passing TDs, Mendoza recorded 6 games of 4+ passing TDs, an impressive feat for a QB that only averaged 23.5 attempts per contest.
Mendoza’s game is very technical, something that will help him succeed early on in his NFL career. While embodying a lot of characteristics from other NFL QBs, I see a less-mobile Matt Ryan mixed with the in-pocket mannerisms of Chad Pennington and the arm talent of a young Sam Bradford. Of the three, I think he’s closest to Ryan, but he shares similarities with all three, a really solid base to build off.

Rookie Profile | Strengths and Weaknesses
Mendoza’s calling cards are his accuracy and arm strength, as his ability to consistently hit tight windows is sprinkled all over his game film. It’s the anticipatory throws, the pinpoint accuracy in the red zone, the Cover-2 hole shots that make even the casual fan’s jaw drop; that is what makes Mendoza the clear-cut QB1 in the 2026 class.
While Mendoza is mobile enough to be dangerous (284 rushing yards in 2025), an area he can improve is his decisiveness when deciding to run. His stiffness in the pocket can turn Mendoza into a statue at times, making it tough for him to transition into a ball carrier. While not asked to run a lot in the Indiana offense, he will need to show better mobility and decision-making if he wants to have a successful rookie campaign and make an impact in both parts of the game on offense.
Fernando Mendoza | All-22 Game Film
Putting the ball only where his receiver can get it in high-traffic situations (at the 0:25 mark here) is a definite plus of his game, as Mendoza’s grasp of passing windows and coverage angles is unmatched in this year’s class.
His ability to lead his receivers with high-IQ anticipatory throws sets him apart from all other QB prospects, as Mendoza not only throws his pass catchers open, he throws them open into locations where it sets them up for potential YAC opportunities.

Draft Capital | Potential Landing Spots
All signs point to Mendoza being the first player off the board in April, as the Las Vegas Raiders hold the first overall pick and desperately need a quarterback. Rolling out Geno Smith this year truly held Brock Bowers and the other semi-relevant fantasy assets in Vegas, so adding a player closer to the timeline of Bowers, Jack Bech, and Dont’e Thornton would be a strong first step towards the Raiders becoming relevant on offense again.
In SuperFlex drafts, as long as Mendoza is first off the board in the NFL Draft, he should factor into the 1.01 conversation. While not locked into the top spot as most top QBs are, he is a major player in the 1.01 – 1.03 conversation, mixing in with Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love and whichever WR between Makai Lemon, Carnell Tate, and Jordan Tyson is drafted first.
