Makai Lemon arrived at USC as a five-star recruit coming out of high school. He was named first-team junior All-American and first-team all-state by MaxPreps. During his time in high school, Lemon was an Under Armour All-American and an invitee to the Polynesian Bowl. Lemon initially committed to the Oklahoma Sooners before flipping his commitment to USC after head coach Lincoln Riley left Oklahoma for USC. In 2025, Lemon won the Fred Biletnikoff Award, which is awarded to the best wide receiver in college football. Lemon also earned First-team All-Big Ten and was a unanimous All-American.

Rookie Profile | Strengths and Weaknesses
One of my favorite players to watch is Makai Lemon. Lemon affects defenses at all three levels and has a knack for getting open through exploiting zone defenses. He displays strong, reliable hands that allow him to pick up first downs and keep the chains moving. Lemon plays bigger than his 5’11’ frame would suggest while showing excellent body control. His toughness cannot be overlooked as he is not afraid to work the middle of the field. Lemon’s yards after the catch ability makes him dangerous with the ball in his hands.
As far as areas of improvement for Lemon, I am a little concerned that he may be limited to the slot in the NFL. At USC, Lemon played over 70% of his snaps from the slot. He needs to display a better release package. In the limited tape against press coverage, Lemon struggled against physical cornerbacks. He will need to improve his hand fighting at the line. When watching Lemon’s tape, I see many similarities between his game and that of a fellow USC wide receiver, Amon-Ra St. Brown. In terms of a lower-end player comp, think of Golden Tate during his tenure with the Detroit Lions.

Makai Lemon also shows big play potential. Draft Capital | Potential Landing Spots
Lemon currently sits as my WR3 in this draft class and should be considered a first-round pick in your rookie drafts. Last week on the Dynasty Nerds podcast, Garret Price and Jagger May conducted a two-round 1QB mock draft for the 2026 class. Garret selected Lemon with the 1.02 over Jordyn Tyson and Carnell Tate. In my rookie scouting, I have Lemon’s tape score as a 91, which puts him in the potential-elite-fantasy-producer category (WR1s). I will give the disclaimer that Lemon, Tate, and Tyson all graded with a 91, which makes landing spots in the upcoming NFL Draft my tiebreaker as to where I will select them. As far as potential fits for Lemon in the NFL, he would be a great fit in New Orleans, pairing him with Chris Olave, giving Tyler Shough another offensive weapon. The New York Jets also have two 1st Round picks, and if they address quarterback with the no. 2 overall pick, selecting Lemon at pick 16 to pair with Garrett Wilson will automatically upgrade their offense.
