We closed out the regular season in style, delivering our fifth 80% start hit rate of the year and finishing on a high note. We even featured the DL1 overall for Week 14, thanks to a massive 40+ point eruption from Jalyx Hunt in our start column. While we came up empty on our streaming options at the premium positions—several players just missed the double-digit mark—it doesn’t detract from the bigger picture.
For our first season tracking Weekly Accuracy Recap metrics, I’m proud of how this experiment turned out. It’s been a fun way to evaluate the process, ride the highs and lows, and see how the data held up through the rollercoaster that was the 2025 regular season. Now, with a new playoff-focused format ready to roll out, I’m fired up to help you chase down a dynasty championship as we enter the most crucial stretch of the year. Let’s finish this thing strong.

A new addition to this year’s playoff content for IDP Nerds is a full breakdown of the Top 72 IDPs for the week. This list features 24 players at each position to keep the format clean and consistent, even though many weeks there will be additional defensive linemen and linebackers I’d feel comfortable starting over some of the deeper defensive backs included here.
Matchups play a major role in shaping this list, and not every player lands in an ideal spot in Week 15. I strongly encourage you to check out Brad Custer’s CheatChart linked below, which provides the data-driven context behind several of these decisions and can help you fine-tune your lineup as the fantasy playoffs begin.

It’s no surprise—unless you’ve been living under a rock—that Myles Garrett has completely dominated the 2025 season. He’s averaging over 28 fantasy points per game, sitting more than 50 points clear of the next-closest defender, and continues to separate himself as the premier IDP asset in fantasy football. This week also sets up nicely for the Philadelphia Eagles duo of Jaelan Phillips and Jalyx Hunt, who draw a dream matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders—an offense that has surrendered six sacks per game over its last three contests.

The Los Angeles Chargers and Baltimore Ravens have also emerged as favorable matchups for opposing defensive linemen down the stretch, both allowing 19+ tackles per game to the position over the last month. That puts players like George Karlaftis and Joseph Ossai firmly on the radar as sneaky playoff starters who could pay off for IDP managers in the opening round.
On the flip side, expectations should be tempered for Laiatu Latu and Carl Granderson in Week 15. Both land in unfavorable matchups and have just one double-digit fantasy performance over their last three games. When you hit true win-or-go-home territory in the fantasy playoffs, name value has to take a backseat to data, matchup, and opportunity. This is the time to trust the process and build the strongest lineup possible.

Any experienced IDP manager who’s been able to capture a dynasty championship will tell you the same thing: linebacker play wins titles. The position drives weekly consistency, and in 2025 we’ve seen that firsthand from matchup-proof producers like Jordyn Brooks and Bobby Wagner, who continue to vacuum up tackles and anchor fantasy lineups regardless of opponent.

Two linebackers I absolutely love this week in favorable spots are Bobby Okereke and Blake Cashman. Both draw top-10 matchups against offenses allowing heavy tackle volume to the position. Okereke has now eclipsed double-digit fantasy points in eight of his last nine games, while Cashman has been as steady as it gets, posting at least 14 fantasy points in seven straight outings. In a win-or-advance playoff weekend, these are the types of profiles that can quietly carry your roster into the next round.
On the other side, veteran linebackers Demario Davis and Kenneth Murray leave me far less confident heading into Week 15. While both are capable of piling up tackles, they draw suboptimal matchups against offenses that have allowed 10 tackles per game or fewer to linebackers over the last month. In the fantasy playoffs, especially at a position as impactful as LB, managers simply can’t afford a below-average outcome. This is the week to prioritize matchup certainty over name value and protect your playoff run at all costs.

Defensive back remains the most streamable position in IDP fantasy football. That flexibility has been a huge advantage throughout the 2025 season, but when your year is on the line, the last thing you want to do is blindly plug in a DB without understanding the likely outcome. The good news? We’re 14 weeks deep into this process, and the matchup data has been reliable enough to help us make confident, calculated decisions when it matters most.
Heading into Week 15, I’m rolling with two rookies who both draw top-three positional matchups. Nick Emmanwori and Kevin Winston have firmly put themselves on the IDP map, each stacking multiple 20-point performances down the stretch of the regular season. That momentum shouldn’t slow down here, and both land inside my top five defensive backs for the week. Tre’von Moehrig is another name I’m targeting heavily. Fresh off a one-game suspension, the veteran safety already has five games of 20+ fantasy points on the season and sets up for another strong outing in Week 15.

If you find yourself forced into stacking defensive backs due to roster construction or injuries, there are still quality paths to production. I like Budda Baker and Jalen Thompson to post solid numbers against a Houston Texans offense that ranks among just eight teams to allow 180+ tackles to safeties this season. The Chicago Bears tandem of Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker also deserves consideration against the Cleveland Browns, who have allowed the fifth-highest tackle efficiency to the position in 2025.
Rather than forcing “sit” calls at defensive back, my recommendation is simple: trust the data. Follow matchup quality and lean on players with stable usage. The position is deep, and there’s rarely a reason to sacrifice points without doing the homework. In my experience, DB carries the widest boom-or-bust range of any IDP spot—so if you’re up against a stronger roster in a win-or-go-home matchup, don’t be afraid to embrace a little volatility and chase upside where it makes sense.
IDP Hidden Gems | Week 15 Fantasy Football Playoffs
• Joseph Ossai continues to look like a league-winner — DL12 overall since Week 9 with 3 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.
• Josh Hines-Allen has turned it on over the past month — 5 sacks in his previous 4 games.
• The Cincinnati Bengals defense has been awful this season — IDP managers have been benefiting from this with four different players on pace to eclipse 100 tackles this season.
• Maxx Crosby and Byron Young are the only EDGE rushers with 60 tackles and 9 sacks this season.
• Carson Schwesinger continues his record breaking rookie season, he hasn’t scored under 10 fantasy points since Week 2.
• Jack Campbell has become an elite LB for fantasy football — Has scored double-digit fantasy points in every game this season.
🧠 FAQ | Week 15 IDP Start/Sit Fantasy Football Playoffs
Q1: How should fantasy managers use the Top 72 Overall IDP Rankings in the playoffs?
A: The Top 72 is designed to give you a clear weekly hierarchy across all positions. While you may start more DLs and LBs than DBs depending on format, keeping the list capped at 24 per position creates consistency and makes start/sit decisions easier when you’re comparing players across roles in win-or-go-home matchups.
Q2: Why are matchup-based rankings more important in the fantasy playoffs?
A: In the playoffs, floor matters just as much as ceiling. Targeting favorable tackle efficiency, sack opportunities, and snap consistency reduces the risk of lineup-killing performances. This format leans heavily on matchup data to help managers avoid zeros and low-volume outcomes.
Q3: Who were the most reliable IDP positions during the 2025 regular season?
A: Defensive line and linebacker provided the most consistent weekly returns. Elite pass rushers and high-volume linebackers drove the strongest hit rates, while defensive backs remained the most volatile and matchup-dependent position.
Q4: How should managers interpret the Weekly Accuracy Recap entering the playoffs?
A: The Weekly Accuracy Recap is meant to track process, not perfection. Finishing the regular season with a 55% overall hit rate and nearly 65% accuracy on starts shows the value of trusting data trends over name value. It’s a tool to reinforce confidence in tough playoff decisions.
Q5: Are rookies trustworthy IDP options in the fantasy playoffs?
A: Yes—especially this season. Late-season rookie breakouts like Kevin Winston, Jalyx Hunt, and Nick Emmanwori have proven to be reliable fantasy contributors thanks to expanded roles and strong matchups. If the snap share and opportunity are there, age becomes irrelevant.
Q6: Should managers still stream IDPs in the playoffs?
A: Absolutely. Streaming—particularly at defensive back and DT—remains viable in the playoffs. The key is avoiding desperation plays and focusing on players with clear usage, favorable matchups, and recent production trends.
Q7: How aggressive should managers be with start/sit decisions in win-or-go-home weeks?
A: Aggressive—but calculated. Don’t cling to struggling big-name players in poor matchups. The playoffs are the time to trust the data, follow recent trends, and prioritize opportunity over reputation.
Q8: What’s the biggest mistake IDP managers make in the fantasy playoffs?
A: Overvaluing season-long rankings and undervaluing weekly matchup data. The goal isn’t to start the “best” player—it’s to start the player most likely to score points this week.
Q9: How should managers approach defensive backs in Week 15?
A: Treat DBs as matchup-driven assets. Focus on teams allowing high tackle volume to safeties and corners, and don’t be afraid to stream or pivot away from inconsistent producers. DB depth is a strength—use it.
Q10: What’s the best overall IDP strategy for surviving the opening round of the playoffs?
A: Minimize risk, maximize opportunity. Target players with stable snap shares, strong matchup data, and defined roles. Avoid chasing last week’s box score and focus on who has the clearest path to production in Week 15.
