Texas Tech lands four-star safety Donovan Webb

In the pantheon of blue chip college football programs, Texas Tech has seemingly always been interesting, but never elite.

The Red Raiders have been an exciting program at times and they’ve fielded some incredible players like Zach Thomas, Wes Welker and Patrick Mahomes.

Tech has always seemingly been a step behind the likes of Oklahoma and Texas in the Big 12, though, but that’s why this new era of college football gives the Red Raiders a huge advantage.

The Big 12 is wide open with the two schools now in the SEC, so if head coach Joey McGuire can bring in talented players via the recruiting trail, the Red Raiders have a chance to write a new story.

They made a big splash in that regard on Wednesday when it was reported that four-star safety Donovan Webb chose Tech over the Michigan Wolverines, Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Kansas State Wildcats among others.
